"Aisha, rest."
"I will rest when they are dead." Aisha countered. She had been pacing the map, making notes, making plans, sending commanders out, making sure the castle was well protected.
"Aisha." Aemond said putting a hand on her shoulder. "I don't think you have slept since Aegon's coronation."
"It's fine." Aisha assured her eyes flickered around, she needed to win. She needed to win this so she could be sure that her child. Her and Aemond's child was safe. That it wouldnt have to worry about the future or their place in the world. She needed Rhaenyra and Daemon dead. The crown secure. And her vengeance delivered long before that day came.
"Aisha, a few hours won't kill you." Aemond assured leading her back.
"No." She agreed. "But it also won't kill them." Aemond sighed leaning back against the table forcing her to look at him. "My family. My blood, turned against me." Aisha reminded him as he pulled her to him. His arms wrapped around her. "Chose someone that killed my siblings... I just want them back. That's all I want." Aisha whimpered and Aemond felt her tears on his shirt. "But I can't get that. So this is how I am going to avenge them."
"We will get you your justice, your vengeance." Aemond assured.
"Is Luke truly dead?" Aisha whispered.
"Yes."
"Jace.... Joffrey, the twins...." Aisha remarked.
"One by one." Aemond whispered. "if that is what you want?"
"I want her to feel my pain, be consumed with an ache that doesnt fade. I think I will save Rhaenyra for last." Aisha remarked and Aemond saw a darkness in Aisha that he saw in himself.
"What of Baela and Rhaena? Your mother and father?"
"I think you are right." Aisha admitted. "I think sleep would be good, clear my mind." Aemond nodded leading her back.
She didnt know what she wanted to do about Baela and Rhaena. They were young and following Rhaenys path, her direction. But after everything, she expected her father of all people to be on her side. She didn't understand how he could betray her like this. He was always her biggest supporter and friend.
But now he was the enemy.
Aisha fell asleep fitfully, but she wished she stayed awake because her mind pulled her back into a memory.
"Aisha... I need you to know that I will always be with you." Laenor said softly.
"What's going on?"
"I love you so much." Laenor told her hugging her tight.
"You are going to dragonstone. I can visit you." Aisha told him.
"I love you Aisha... more than anyone.... I'm sorry I'm not going to be here to..."
"Laenor dragonstone is not that far away." Aisha assured him. "I can visit all the time."
"I love you."
"I love you... is something wrong?" Aisha questioned.
"No... I will see you soon love."
Aisha woke up with a pant in her breath as she shot up, sweat damp on her skin, her hands fisted the sheets. I will see you soon... did he know? Did he know something was off, something was going to happen? The more she thought about it the more it didnt make any sense.
"See you soon." She whispered into the early morning light, breaking through the window, a stream of light drifted to the end of the bed. "See you soon..." she pushed the covers back and moved to the end of the bed her legs handing off as she pulled out a notebook she kept hidden under the bed.
It was Laenors. He loved to draw and write and Aisha couldnt find the strength to look at it for years. It made her sad every time she touched the cover. She found it among his things at the capital and wanted it, wanted to keep him closer but touching the cover now made her happy, sad and mad all at the same time.
"see you soon." She whispered opening it up. Aemond opened his eyes staring over at her silently.
She ran her fingers along the words the pictures and sketches. She chuckled seeing one of Joffrey. Laenor's friend when Aisha was very young. He had a big goofy smile on his face. She flipped the next page and saw one of her. She was younger, it was of her and Aegon a burst of water in between them. He was always so talented. She clutched the book to her chest letting out a shaky breath when she felt something shift. She put the book back down as her fingers flipped through the pages, one stuck out, a dog eared page.
-Nothing is as it seems.
Day is not day. Night is not night.
Water and rain wash away the pain, bringing the truth to light.
Power cannot be trusted to the crown.
We are all liars here and Rhaenyra and Daemon are the biggest liars of them all-Aisha stared at the words. A riddle?
-See you soon love. I know you will find me when you need me. But until then, know I love you most.-
Aisha read the words over and over again. It didnt make sense. Was he talking about his own death? Did he know what they had planned and he didnt try to stop it? She could have helped him. Saved him.
Nothing is as it seems.
We are all liars here.
"Laenor, I was never good at riddles." Aisha whispered to the pages. "Tell me just tell me." She begged gripping the page a tear dropped down and a symbol appeared in the wet spot.
"Oh you are sneaky." Aisha remarked watching the symbol fade as the tear slowly dried. "Nothing is as it seems. Water and rain..."
Aisha lifted her finger creating a water droplet, the truth. She was finally getting the truth.
Water and Rain wash away the pain, bringing the truth to light.
