27. Heartless

Rhaenyra was losing followers. Losing support and refused entry everywhere she went running. She held tight to her last and youngest son Aegon. half of Rhaenyras gold cloaks deserted her on the road, and attackers killed several of her knights leaving her weakened, alone and defenseless. The few knights that were with her had been true to her and her cause from the start. She was grateful but there was no winning. No crown or throne. She just needed to run.

Rhaenyra sold her crown to buy passage on a Braavosi ship. She returned to Dragonstone, hoping to hatch a new dragon from the island's dragon eggs. But she didn't realize dragonstone was under the Greens control.

"Daemon is dead." Aisha declared but her face was anything but happy.

"Aisha?" Aegon questioned hugging her.

"He killed... he killed Aemond." She whimpered. The water had washed away Aemond and Daemons blood as she got back to dragonstone but she felt like it was there. On her skin. In her hair. She felt the pain of losing Aemond on her every nerve.

"Aegon," aisha whispered hugging him. "I cant lose you too... where is Daeron and the boys? Jae and Lenny my father they are alright, right? Please they all need to be alright." She whimpered out.

"Daeron was killed." Aegon informed her gently. "Baela and Rhaena escaped on Moondancer. Daeron... I dont think any rider or dragon survived." Aegon remarked.

"I need to see Lenny." Aisha decided as she moved past Aegon on weak legs. "Dad?" Aisha declared her vision blurry as tears flooded her eyes.

"Mama!" Lenny shouted happily.

"Oh my sweet boy. I missed you soo much. So much!" Aisha declared collasping to her knees as she hugged him.

"Aisha honey what happened? Where is-" but Corlys words drifted off when he saw the tears streaming down her face.

"I wasnt fast enough." Aisha whimpered sobbing as Lenny and Jaehaera hugged her. "Daemon killed him. He killed Aemond!" Aisha sobbed. She couldnt stop the tears from cascading down her face.

"Oh my girl." Corlys knelt beside her hugging her took. She shook into him as she sobbed out. "We will avenge him."

"I did." Aisha countered. "But I dont feel any better."

"Aisha you're back!" Addam declared happily before he saw her tears.

"This is shit timing." Alyn began awkwardly.

"We can tell Aegon." Addam corrected nudging his brother.

"Tell what? Shit timing for what?" Aisha demanded wiping at her eyes.

"We have company at the gates." Alyn remarked.

"Its Rhaenyra." Addam added. Aisha stood up swatting at her tears.

"Protect them with your life!" Aisha demanded before kissing Jaehaera and Laenor. "Mama be right back." She promised.

Rhaenyra's remaining men were killed, Rhaenyra was captured, along with Aegon the Younger when they got to dragonstone.

"Aisha-" Aegon began.

"She killed Laenor. She killed my brother. This whole fucking thing!" Aisha shouted as she whistled for Aquarius. "I should have killed her then. That fucking day I should have killed them both. Saved us all a lot of hassle. A lot of lives!" Aisha shouted. "Get inside where it is safe." Aisha demanded.

"Entitled still I see. Doing as you please and fuck the rest of the world." Aisha remarked. "Alicent was right about you."

"Words never spoken ever." Rhaenyra hissed.

"She wanted mercy for you. I wanted a massucre. Alicent wanted peace. I was ready to rip your head from your useless body when youkilled my brother." Aisha watched her face to see if there was any sign of what Aisha had read what Aemond had deciphered held truth but Rhaenyras heartless souless gaze glared back at Aisha.

"You and Daemon did as you wanted for years and never gave a damn about anyone just your crown." Aisha remarked.

"Daemon betrayed me too!" Rhaenyra informed her.

"So me informing you that I stabbed him, took his eye then his tongue then severed his cock from his body before I stabbed him some more then finally I drove his own blade through his good eye just as he did my husband... that wont have you in tears?" Aisha countered.

"Hes dead?" Rhaenyra rasped.

"I should have done this years ago." Aisha seethed.

Rhaenyra stared to run as Aquarius descended upon her. Screams from her lips as she tried to flee. Aisha let out a deep breath as her dragon, the first water dragon in centuries, her baby devoured Rhaenyra. Aisha listened to the bones crunch and blood oozed from Aquarius lips.

Aquarius moved to the waters floating and washing her mouth of the taste of Rhaenyra. Aisha stayed up there on Aquarius for hours as they floated. She lay back extending her arms feeling the waves gently brush past her fingers.

Everything had changed yet nothing was as it should be.

With the chance that Rhaenyra's loyalists although few as it was would continue the fight in her son's name, Aegon the Younger became a hostage on dragonstone.

Aegon came out into the waters that night as Aisha stared up at the stary sky.

"Your father used to tell me about the stars." Aisha whispered as he waded through the water to her. "Aemond and I used to go for swims at midnight because the moon was the highest and the brightest. The stars. You could see every star..." aisha whispered closing her eyes as she felt the sting of tears once again.

"I know you love him." Aegon whispered. "But ive only ever loved you." Aisha looked to him as she slide off Aquarius and into the water. "You are my whole world. I want to do better. Be better. I want to be a father to Laenor and Jaehaera. I want to be the shoulder you lean on. The one to wipe your tears from your beautiful face." Aegon remarked wiping at her never ending tears.

"Im pregnant Aegon." Aisha whispered resting her forehead against his. "Aemond didnt even know..."

"If you let me, I would love to be this babies father too." Aegon offered kissing her cheek. "You take all the time you need but know Im here and Im not going anywhere."

Sunfyre was wounded past healing. It had been moons and he just kept getting weaker before died on Dragonstone. The Cannibal, seasmoke and Aquarius were the last of the dragons. Cannibal was Gods knew where and Seasmoke, Dreamfyre and Aquarius were safe and strong. They needed strength right now for what was to come.

Aegon and Aisha started planning the return to King's Landing. Though Rhaenyra had died, her cause lived on. But not once Aegon the younger was killed. Aisha didnt know who did it. Who killed a child for her Aegons honor and duty. So no claims could be challenged.

But Aegon once again sat the throne. He was still determined to make Aisha his queen.
