This will be my first attempt at adding in just a little bit of angst into an mpreg oneshot. Don't worry though, it'll just be enough for some dramatic effect. Other than that, it'll still be very happy and fluffy.
Enjoy

John paced back and forth in the living room of his and Sherlock's shared apartment, Sherlock was currently in labor with their baby girl and the anxiety he was feeling was overwhelming.

It went against every instinct he had to be away from Sherlock during his time of need, but he had promised him that he would wait for the midwife to arrive.

He kept anxiously running his fingers through his hair, anything to distract himself the overwhelming stress he was feeling.

Every pain filled cry his beloved let out from their bedroom broke his heart.

He finally couldn't take it anymore and ran toward their bedroom, just then, the midwife, along with Ms Hudson ran through the door.

"Thank heaven! Come quickly, I'm terribly worried about him" he led the two women into the bedroom and when he was going to rush to Sherlock's side, he was stopped.

"Please wait out here, Dr Watson"

John's eyes widened. "No, you don't understand! He needs me! I have to be in there!"

But the door was closed in his face.

John began to panic, he had promised Sherlock he would be by his side throughout his entire labor and birth, but the midwife wouldn't let him in the room.

"No! No, no, no, no! You don't understand! I promised him I would be there! You have to let me in there!" he yelled frantically.

He growled in frustration and pressed his ear to the door, he could hear Sherlock's panicked voice asking for him, he sounded so scared and in pain.

"Sherlock, I'm still here. Can you hear me?" he called out through the door.

He waited for an answer, he heard Sherlock trying to convince the midwife to let him in the room, thankfully, the door finally opened and John rushed to Sherlock's side, brushing his dark hair away from his face.

Sherlock was so relived to have his husband by his side, he leaned into his touch with tears streaming down his face. "I can't do this without you" he said softly.

"Shh, I know, love. I'm here now" John whispered soothingly, continuing to weave his fingers through Sherlock's hair, which helped calm him down.

The gesture was soothing enough for him to doze off a bit, that is, until the next contraction hit, he jolted and squeezed John's hand with all his might.

"Shh, easy love, easy" he whispered, rubbing his thumb across Sherlock's knuckles

Sherlock's grey-blue eyes were filled with pain, he smiled weakly, squeezing John's hand. "I'm so glad you're by my side"

"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else" John whispered, chuckling softly.

Sherlock suddenly jerked forward and gripped at his stomach. "A-ahh!" he gasped, leaning his head back.

John rubbed his shoulder in attempt to calm him down.

"Ahh! Bloody hell! This hurts!" he yelled, gripping John's hand tightly.

"I know it hurts, love. You've just got to stay calm, listen to my voice and focus on that" John whispered soothingly.

Sherlock managed to block out everything around him except for John's encouraging words being whispered into his ear and the feeling of soothing fingers weaving through his sweat slicked hair.

After hours of being in agony during his labor, Sherlock finally felt the urge to push.

As he began to push, it was getting harder for him to keep his mind focused on John's voice.

His grip on John's hand started growing weak and John started getting even more worried about him than he was before.

After using every last ounce of strength he had left, their daughter was finally born, Sherlock sighed heavily and went limp in John's arms.

John smiled brightly when he heard their daughter crying. "Oh, Sherlock! Sherlock, she's so beautiful, love. You did it!" he exclaimed.

When he didn't receive a reply or feel Sherlock move, he looked down at his face, his eyes were closed, he wasn't breathing.

John's heart sunk to his stomach then shot back up to his throat. "Sherlock? Sherlock! Oh god! No, no! Don't do this! Wake up, Sherlock! Please!" he cried frantically, shaking his shoulder.

~Inside Sherlock's dream~

Sherlock could hear muffled voices all around him and the muffled cries of his newborn daughter, he was suddenly surrounded by a blinding bright light.

He heard footsteps approaching him and saw a figure slowly coming into view.

"Bravo, Sherlock. You and John made a beautiful little girl" a voice called out.

Sherlock's eyes widened when he realized who it was, it was Moriarty and he was holding his newborn daughter.

Moriarty grinned wickedly. "Too bad you won't be able to watch her grow up. Everyone will cry. Ms. Hudson, and poor old John will cry buckets and buckets if you don't wake up. Just like he did when you were dead for two years" he said mockingly, a sadistic gleam in his eyes.

He leaned closer to Sherlock's ear. "John Watson is definitely in danger~"

Sherlock tried to run after Moriarty, but he suddenly disappeared with the baby girl still in his arms.

All Sherlock could hear was Moriarty's voice echoing around him.

"It's raining, it's pouring, Sherlock is Boring~ I'm laughing, I'm crying, Sherlock is dying~ His little girl will grow up and be without a mother~"

When he tried to scream or yell, he felt like his head was being shoved under water.

He began to gasp for air, trying desperately to find his breath.

"Sherlock!" John's frantic cries finally made Sherlock wake up again.

Sherlock gasped and quickly sat up, at first, he didn't know where he was, he then began to frantically look around for his baby girl. "Where is she! Where's my baby!" he slowly calmed down when he saw John's tear stained eyes staring at him as if he were looking at a ghost.

"Sherlock? Sherlock! Oh dear god! Don't ever scare me like that again!" he hugged Sherlock tightly, crying against his chest.

Sherlock smiled and hugged back. "I'm okay. But where's the baby?"

"She's right here" Ms. Hudson came into the room with a warm smile, holding the baby girl in her arms.

"You gave us a scare, Sherlock, especially scared poor John half to death. Your baby girl is healthy and so so beautiful"

Sherlock very happily held his arms out for the baby girl, who was laid against his chest.

He smiled at her. "She is beautiful"

John hugged his shoulders, still softly crying. "I lost you once, I don't want to lose you again"

"I'm not going anywhere" Sherlock squeezed John's hand and gave him a gentle kiss.
