Pendulum swings

After Adam had reset the world, there were a considerable amount of changes.

Society was now split up into 3 sub genders aside from male or female, Alpha, Beta and Omega.

The 3 secondary genders were evenly distributed between the men and women of the world.

Newt just so happened to be an omega and Anathema was an alpha.

It was surprising at first, but they settled down with the idea that if they decided to have children, Newt would be the one to carry the baby.

When Newt discovered that he was pregnant, he was shocked but equally as thrilled and also very nervous.

Anathema provided much needed comfort during the harder parts of his pregnancy, she made him herbal teas that worked wonders for his morning sickness and put special bath salts in his baths to help with any aches or pains.

Now at 6 and a half months along, Anathema wanted to see if they were having a baby boy or a girl.

At this point in time, Newt looked like he was 8 months pregnant instead of just 6 months along.

Anathema was eager to find out the gender of their baby and decided to use a pendulum, even though they had scheduled an ultrasound appointment.

"Have a seat, love" she patted a chair that was decked out with Newt's favorite pillow for his comfort.

He couldn't help but smile and sat down with a small grunt, he watched curiously as she knelt in front of the chair and dangled a pendulum over his belly. "What are you doing?" he asked curiously.

"I'm seeing if we're having a boy or a girl" she answered simply.

"Don't we have an appointment to get a scan?" he asked.

"Well, yeah, but I'm really excited to know, I don't wanna wait for the appointment"

Newt chuckled softly. "Alright then. I'm curious to see if this works"

Anathema quirked a brow with a teasing smile. "Still skeptical? Watch this. If the pendulum swings right to left, it's a girl, if it's left to right, it's a boy"

The two sat very still as Anathema dangled the pendulum over Newt's belly, waiting to see in which direction it would swing.

After a few seconds, the pendulum began to move, it moved from the right and Anathema's face lit up.

"Did you see that?" she asked in excitement.

"I did. Can we still go to the appointment? Just to know for certain?" Newt asked, even though he was fascinated by the pendulum, he still wanted an actual picture of the baby.

Anathema frowned. "You still doubt me?"

Newt quickly shook his head. "Of course not, love. I just want to get a picture to put in a frame" he blushed a bit, his hand hovering over his belly.

Anathema smiled sweetly at him and pecked his lips. "Alright, we'll still get the ultrasound"

So, the next day, the two took a trip to the maternity clinic, the two were buzzing with excitement, even though Anathema knew she was right, she still wanted to see the baby.

The two were soon enough called back to the exam room and Newt was laid down on the small bed, he lifted his shirt and the nurse squirted some gel over his belly, which made him shiver a bit, and moved the ultrasound wand across his belly.

He watched the screen in anticipation and after a few seconds, he saw his baby, or rather, he saw two babies.

The nurse smiled brightly. "Looks like you're having twin girls. Congratulations"

Newt's jaw hit the ground and Anathema grinned in triumph, she leaned close to Newt's ear. "Told ya it was a girl"

Newt was still getting over his shock that he was having twins, still staring at the screen, even after the nurse had printed out a few pictures for them.

When he sat up and wiped the gel off his belly, he finally snapped himself back to reality. "Twins, fancy that" he smiled nonetheless and rubbed his belly.

"Hmm, I can't wait to meet you both" he hummed.

Afterwards, the two scheduled another appointment for the following month and made their way back home.

Newt couldn't keep his eyes off the pictures of his daughters, Anathema held his hand while they drove home, giving it a loving squeeze.
