"Give me my babies," I said to Gülnihal as soon as they finish cleaning them. Gülnihal and Esma handed me the babies and I balanced them both in my arms before kissing their forehead.
"ATTENTION." The door man yelled and everyone bowed as Mehmed entered the chamber with Hümaşah Sultan and Ayşe behind him.
"Halime." Mehmed whispered as he stepped closer to us. He kissed my forehead. "How are you, my love?"
"I'm fine now that you are here with us." I whispered.
"MashAllah, Halime. Congratulations." Hümaşah Sultan said as she stepped closer to have a look at the babies.
"Halime Sultan, may Allah give long life to them. They're so cute." Ayşe said and I smiled at her.
Like as if Mehmed knew which one was the girl, he carefully picked the girl up before placing a kiss on her forehead. "Benim güzel Sultana," He whispered before facing me. "You have made me the happiest person today, Halime."
I smiled. "How did you know that was the girl?"
"I just know," He whispered before turning his attention back to his little Sultana. She already had Mehmed wrapped around her little fingers.
Hümaşah Sultan came forward and took the boy from my arms carefully. "He just looks like you Mehmed." Hümaşah said.
"And he also got the eyes of Halime Sultan." Ayşe said before giggling and stepping closer near Mehmed to have a look at the baby girl.
"She looks exactly like Halime Sultan." She added with a smile.
"Sumbul agha," Hümaşah Sultan called out and Sumbul came running in.
"Sultanam." He bowed.
"Give orders to fire the cannon. Let the World know a beautiful Sultana and a worthy Şehzade has been born to their Lord." Hümaşah Sultan ordered. "Distribute double gold coins and clothes and food among the people."
"Also tell Şeker agha to cook a huge feast and also distribute coins and sherbet and lokma in the Harem." Hümaşah Sultan said before handing me the baby. "I'll go to my chamber and get my scarf." She said and I nodded.
She left with Ayşe, leaving us alone.
Mehmed dismissed everyone before sitting down on the bed beside me. "She's the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, Halime. May she grow into a beautiful lady like her mother."
"Amin." I replied.
He looked up. "I miss you so much, Halime." He said before leaning in and placing a kiss on my lips. "I'm so happy today."
"Me too." I replied as I leaned my head on his head.
Soon, Hümaşah Sultan returned with some agas carrying two cribs and Ayşe with Atike and Ismihan.
The name ceremony started and Mehmed picked our baby boy before saying a prayer and whispering into his ear.
"I will name you after my great ancestor." He said before leaning down to whisper into his ear.
"Your name is Murad." He said. Murad. The name I suggested when he asked me what would I like to name our baby if it's a boy. He remembered.
He repeated three times before handing him to me and taking the baby girl.
He paused for a moment before smiling. "Her face is just like the moon."
"When the news of the birth arrived, I looked up at the sky and thanked Allah. I saw the moon and sun side by side." He said. "Hence, I'll name you after them."
