I stood in the kitchen, unaware of everything else. The smell of lilacs and roses filled the room, and I used my cooling to chill a smoothie.
I had the window of the apartment open, the warm breeze hitting my body- giving me the idea to go outside and take a small dip.
I grabbed a towel out of the extra towel bin in the bathroom, quickly changed into a blue and purple bikini, grabbed my smoothie and phone, and heading out the patio door.
"Ally!" I heard June's voice through the air.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I reply, setting my towel and phone on the chair beside the pool.
June opened the gate separating our apartments and sat in one of our chairs.
"Did you hear the news?" She asked, propping her feet up on the table.
"Liam finally went to the store and bought bananas? I've been telling him for a week that the ones we have are no good!"
June smiled hesitantly, and then looked away at the pool.
"Kyle at the Marine Lab Corp. was arrested yesterday for illegal drug use on animals," she said. "He got at least ten years."
That's when the biggest laugh came from my lips and I almost fell over.
"Why are you laughing?" June asked, standing up. She fixed the chair she sat in and looked back at the fence.
"Anyway, I have a casserole in the oven right now. If you'd like, you can come over for a bit whenever."
I grabbed my towel and phone. "I'll swim later, wait up!" I replied.
A smile appeared on her face as I crossed the fence to her apartment.

"So, Kyle used illegal drugs on the animals they're testing on?" I asked June.
She hesitated before she said in a soft voice, "Partially animal."
I took a bite of the casserole, chewing normally as June continued talking.
"They found another mermaid off the coast of Ireland. She was around seven or eight years old, though I'm not very sure."
I almost chocked on my casserole right then.
"Seven or eight?"
"Yeah-"
June was interrupted by my phone ringing as I checked to see that it was Niall. I picked it up, and said in a small voice, "Hey, Ni-"
"I have to tell you something about Kyle," he muttered.
"What?" I asked, setting my fork down on the table.
"That day we all went to see Zayn in the hospital... I met his sister. Her name is Kendall, and she helps out down at the lab."
I had the phone on speaker so June could hear as well.
"Are you sure?" June asked.
"Very. Her and a girl named Grace Portman came up to me outside. I don't know why she would be up there at the hospital, but I think she's helping Kyle get to you."
"You didn't give her anything, did you?" I replied.
"Just my autograph."
"Niall! Kyle could use that for some type of location finder or something! He's sneaky, he could file it and find out how to get to us."
All I heard from him before he quickly hung up was a very small, "Well shit."
