The only sound audible was the slight hum of the ceiling fan for at least thirty minutes of frustration and disappointment. I managed to place my hand on the small of Zayn's back as he kept his face buried in his rough hands. Looking to my slight right, I saw Chass comforting Harry by whispering and smiling close to his face. Across from her, Niall's jumper had found itself settled on the seat for a while before he exited. No one seemed to want to say anything, if they had anything to say at all. It was still and silent.
I guess Louis had had just enough when he finally broke the stressful silence by slamming the front door in a flash. Whether that was a sign for everyone to get up and follow him, I wasn't sure. But that's what it came to at the moment. Everyone left the flat and started their cars along with Zayn and I before all of us finally left in shreds of brokenness.
Maybe the only thing that kept these boys from absolutely falling apart was knowing that another one would be there to pick them up right before they fell completely. Zayn had just jeopardized that whole method of reassurance and subtle friendship. But still, I continued to support him through it. He proceeded to create music by himself, releasing a few new songs on his way to completing himself after the silent argument he had had with the rest of the boys months ago.
Kyle still continued to rot in a jail cell along with the doctor. No threats of any kind had found their way to our door, and I'm thankful for that. Now, I could finally live in peace and visit my family whenever possible.
This very moment? Zayn is helping me go back to school to receive a degree for teaching musical theatre. Crazy, huh? Anyway, this is our life now, and I can't tell what it will be in the future. But I can bet all my seashells that there will be a lot more obstacles. Being adopted is certainly very... fishy, but even this little fish can make it through.
Let's just hope Niall stays out of the fridge next time...
