Chapter 1: School

*Kayla's POV*

"Bye Dad!" I said and shut the car door. I was walking down the path when I saw Hayes walking next to me. Great. Note the sarcasm. I kept walking then turned. "PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY MISS DALLAS!" The teacher at the door yelled at me. "Sorry." I said and put it away.

I walked up the stairs and to my locker to be greeted by the schools bad boy. John. "Hey John." i nervously said. "Hey babe come to my locker for a second." He dragged me over then stopped. "Do my Math homework." He sternly said. "Sorry no, ask Hayes." I said and turned around.

I opened my locker and got my books. Only English because I have Gym first period today. I walked down the hall to get the attendance for my homeroom teacher and I saw Chris smiling at me. "Hey Chris." I waved and walked away. Once I got to homeroom I took attendance for Mr. Burd since I have to. Once the bell rang I walked to gym with my friend Victoria.

"So I heard Hayes punched a kid." She said as we walked past the office. I noticed Hayes walking out and he smiled at me. I walked into the nurse with Victoria and waited. "I wonder who?" But then I saw John sitting there holding his nose. "Hey Kayla." he waved. I waved back. "Whats up?" The nurse asked. "Is it okay if I have my brace on for gym?" I asked. "Yea it's fine but if it hurts then don't take gym." she said and I left.

During gym we had to partner up so i partnered up with Victoria for golf. I hit the ball and it went flying. "Wow Kayla this is putting." My teacher laughed and I laughed too and got the ball. After gym I went to English. "Clear your desks it's quiz time!" My teacher said and passed out the paper. "Dang it." I whispered. "Forgot to study?" Katelyn asked. "Yep." I said writing my name. "Ok the first word is Synergy. McDonalds had Synergy. Synergy." After we did the quiz he graded them and we worked in groups or "worked" in groups.

"So Hayes likes you." Everyone said. "No he doesn't." I said seriously. "Whatever you say Kayla." They said. I did the work so it looks like we were doing something and then just sat there waiting for locker break. "Heres your quizzes...." My teacher said. He said names then I heard my name and I got up and looked at it. Wow 95%.

"HEAD OFF TO LOCKER BREAK." He said and I rushed out of there and got my stuff for third and fourth. Since Hayes's locker is next to mine he always slams his locker into my face. "Ow." I said standing up with my books. "He won't talk to you don't even bother." Stephanie said. I rolled my eyes at him and walked away.

In ICT I was like almost peeing. "Jon spit out your gum." My teacher said. "OOOOOOOO JON." everyone yelled. "What?" He asked laughing. I felt someone watching me so I looked at Hayes and sure enough he was. My chair was pulled and I fell and started laughing. We just talk about nothing in class and have packets to fill out about careers and that's our grade.

In Math Im really good at it but my ex isn't so I have to stay with him everyday after school to help him. I kept raising my hand today for a reason but I never raise my hand at all. "Kayla." my teacher said. "The proportion would be 2 over 5 is equal to x over 100 and you have to cross multiply to solve for x which is 40." I said writing everything down. "Very good Kayla." she said and smiled.

~Skipping lunch~

In science I had Hayes at my lab table which means he's my partner today. "Okay class so today we are working in pairs to do Punnet Squares." She passed out a worksheet and of course I had to do all the work. Hayes just sat there. Louis sat down across from me and started throwing pencils at me.

"Louis." I said and threw it back at him. "What?" He asked and I laughed. "Need help?" I asked. He nodded and I helped him. "So Gg would go on top while gg will go on the side. And if you match them together you get Gg, gg, Gg, gg so it's heterozygous 25% is the genotype." I said helping him out. "Wow." he said and I sat back down.

After that class was social studies and we did work. It was so quiet it helped me think. I finished before anyone else so I went to my locker and got other homework. I came back and started working. At the end of the period we left to our lockers. "So I have to babysit tomorrow." I said grabbing my books and putting it in my backpack.

"Who?" Stephanie asked. "Hayes's little sister." I said and locked my locker. "Ooo." she said and we walked into homeroom. "OKAY COUNT." I yelled since I'm like the new teacher. Everyone counted and we waited. "Kayla your like the teacher." Mr.Burd said. I laughed and I bell rang.

As I was walking home I felt someone starring at me from behind. I turned around and it was Hayes. I rolled my eyes and kept walking. Once I got home I grabbed some food an looked at the piece of paper. My mom is on a business trip yay! I went upstairs to my room and did I mention Hayes can look in my room. I rolled my eyes and shut my blinds.

I did my homework and fell asleep. I heard Cameron come into my room. "Kayla." I heard him say. But I just stayed asleep.

*Hayes's POV*

Why can't she figure out I like her. Oh wait because I don't talk to her and I punched a kid and I smack her with my locker all the time. God Hayes.
