Chapter 2: The Call

*Kayla's POV*

It's Saturday and my ex Joe is coming over for help with Math since I left early yesterday. I threw on my high waisted red shorts and a red crop top and went downstairs and saw Cameron. "Hey Cam." I said sitting next to him. "Hey boo." he said. "I'm going out with Nash today." he grabbed his phone and walked out before I could say anything.

I heard the doorbell ring so I got up and opened the door. "Hey Joe." I said letting him in. "Hey Kayla ready to help me again?!" He asked excitedly. "Yea have a seat." I sat down and he followed. "Okay we have a quiz on Monday so do you want to start with that?" I asked opening my binder. "Yea." he said nervously.

"So the quiz is on Sampling. So basically you have to understand Biased, Random Sample and Sample and things like that so review your notes and I'll ask you some questions." I got up and grabbed two gatorades then gave one to him and sat back down. "Okay I got it." he said. "Okay so is this question biased or random? Would you eat a delicious chocolate flavor lasting cake or a dull disgusting cupcake?" I said facing him.

"Biased." he said starring in my eyes. "Why?" I asked. "Because your like wanting me to chose the cake so your using more words to describe it." He said. "Correct." i high fived him then got a call.

K: Hello?
Elizabeth: Hello Kayla
K: Hi Elizabeth
E: Can you babysit Skylynn today at three?
K: yea sure
E: Thanks so much.
K: No problem

She hung up and I continued. "Did you understand yesterday's lesson?" I asked. "Nope." he sighed. "Let's go over that one okay?" "Yep." he sighed. "Okay so figure that out." I said pointing to the one I just wrote. I waited and he finished. "So x equals 220?" I shook my head and he frowned. "Try again." I smiled. "X equals 20." I shook my head. "X equals 10 Joe." I said. "Oh." he said. "Hey it's not that bad don't worry just focus and ignore everything else." I said hugging him. "I miss you Kayla." he said.

"Really?" I asked getting up. "Yea I'm sorry." He said. "Joe your moms here." I said and opened the door. "Bye." he said and left. Once I cleaned everything up I threw on my red converse and grabbed my phone and walked next door. I knocked and Hayes opened it. "MOM." He yelled. I saw Elizabeth come to the door all dressed up. "Thank you Kayla I shouldn't be out too late." she said then left.

"KAYLA!" Skylynn yelled hugging my legs. "Hey cutie." I said bending down. "What do you wanna do?" I asked and she dragged me outside. "Football." She handed me the ball. "Are you sure?" I questioned looking at her. "Me and Hayes do it all the time." she shrugged. "Alright." I laughed and we walked in the back. I threw the ball and of course it's a spiral DUH because I played football for four years. "Woah." I heard someone say.

I turned my head and saw Hayes standing there. "That was really good." He said coming near me. "So the quiet kid does talk." I laughed. "Yea sorry I ignore you Kayla." He said scratching the back of his neck. "You know my name." I said shocked. He laughed and caught the ball. "KAYLA!" Skylynn screamed. "Yes." I said. "Can Hayes play with us pleaseeeee?" She begged. "Sure." I laughed.

"So Kayla we should talk more and hang out sometime. Still got my number?" He asked. "You mean YOU should talk to ME more and yea I still got it." I laughed. "Alright by the way I need a tutor in like all of my classes can you help me please?" He asked. "Yea sure whenever is good for you." I said throwing the ball to him. "How about after you get home from school and we can do our homework together." He suggested.

"Fine by me or you can stay after school with me and then we can walk home together." I said catching the ball then throwing it to Skylynn. "Yea sure." he said. After that we went back inside and ate. "Oreos?" "Oreos." He tossed me them and I opened the pack. "Sky are you tired?" He asked as Skylynn was about to fall asleep. "Yea." she yawned.

"I can bring her up for you." I said picking her up. "No I got it." he said picking me up. I laughed and he smiled. We got to her room and I placed her on her bed. I tucked her in then shut the door. "So." I said. "So." he said and I felt my phone buzz. "Shot!" I mumbled and ran down the stairs.

"What?" Hayes asked following me. "I gotta go." I said opening the door but it got slammed shut by an arm. "Where are you going?" Hayes asked leaning on the door. "I gotta go home I'm having a party tomorrow, tell you mom I left early and your family is invited but I gotta go right now." I said and hugged him. "Okay." he said and hugged me back.

Once I got home I started to set up and then sat down to eat some pizza then went upstairs and changed into pajamas then fell asleep while watching YouTube. I heard Cameron come in my room and plug my phone and laptop in to the charger then kiss my forehead.
