"You're at a crossroads, aren't you?"

When Heidi said she thought she understood me, I hadn't believed her. It was just a thought, that's what she said, nothing more than a thought. She only thought she understood us, no, I shouldn't word it like that.

She only thought she understood me.

"A child's violent will to survive lodged in your chest, where your heart should have of been..."

"Yet an utter indifference along with it..."

Her voice trailed off. Heidi was unsure of herself from what I could decipher, that's how she always was when she talked to me. She always acted confident, and lion hearted around other people, but with me she had a slight unsureness about her. I didn't understand why but I knew there was a reason.

A familiar shout made my eyes shift in that direction.

There stood a man. His armor had scuffs from previous battles and his skin held deep scars. His hair was messy, and his horns were wrapped in an array of twine. Both his horns and hair had unique beads, rewards from past wars and battles. A custom of the goat folk

"Haidi, Y/n. We need to get a move on." Our father made a gesture with his head.

I stood from my crouching position and followed our father, Heidi trailed behind us.

"I found some deer tracks near the northern most part of our domain, they're large." Our father stated.

"Is it that big red buck we saw a few months ago?" Heidi asked.

"I believe so." Our father replied.

My eyes shifted towards something in the corner of my eye, there sat a small ink spirit.

I crouched down, looking at the small creature.

"Y/n, Heidi. C'mon. We need to get going." Our father ordered, Katalina was standing behind me, also looking at the ink spirit.

"Alright." I responded, running after him.

I walked alongside him.

"So, why are you thinking of this scenario again, little bird?" Father asked.

"What do you mean, father?" I looked up at him, a confused look on my face.

"You keep coming back to this specific moment, why?" He inquired.

"I'm not sure, it's familiar and comforting. It reminds me of home. I just think that big red buck we caught together was my favorite memory." I replied.

"Well, you need to leave. You need to keep moving. You can't stay." My father spoke confidently. He always had the best judgment.

"What, father?" I asked.

"You need to wake up, you can't die after that tiny fall, little bird." A thundering voice boomed, far from how my father's calm voice would've spoken. The way it said a once familiar and sweet nickname made me shiver.

"What?" I asked quietly, backing up.

My father's face looked distorted and like it was warping, I looked over at Heidi. Her body and face were burnt beyond recognition, I gagged at the smell.

I stumbled backwards as they both took a step forward. I clutched my hands over my eyes, the thundering voice was chanting.
