"You're worthless, you're going to end up in jail just like your father" That's what Kevin hears from his mother as he walks out the front door of their apartment for school while walking out of the apartment Kevin slams the front door behind him. As he began walking down the street Kevin sees Robert standing on the corner. He walks up to Robert then says "What's up to Rob?", "Nothing man, I'm just trying to make some money real quick. What's up with you" says, Robert. "My mamma was tripping this morning, so I had to hurry up and get up out of there," said Kevin. "I feel you man," says Robert.

A black Lexus pulls up in front of them, the window rolls down, a man sticks his head out and says "Let me get a bag". Robert reaches into his pocket, grabs a small bag of marijuana then hands it to the man, the man takes the bag hands, Robert, a twenty-dollar bill than the man slowly rolls up his window and pulls off. Kevin and Robert start walking toward the bus stop. While walking to the bus stop Robert sees Keisha already standing there waiting for the bus. When Kevin and Robert finally make it to the bus stop, Keisha and Robert start smiling at each other. "What's up girl," says Robert as he reaches for a hug from Keisha. "Nothing," says Keisha as she hugs Robert. "Man y'all don't see me standing here?" says Kevin. "Hey, Kevin," says Keisha. Right before the bus pulls up here comes Tiffany and David running to the bus stop, the two of them make it just in time. Everyone gets on the bus, pay their fares then walk to the back of the bus.

The bus finally stops on the corner of their school, everybody gets off the bus. David sees Michelle getting out of the front seat of her mother's car. After Michelle's mother pulls off, David walks up to Michelle and kisses her on the lips. "Hey, How about we talk to the school's nurse about our situation during lunch period to see if she could give us some advice about what to do about the baby," says David. "We've got a few minutes before the first period, let's see if the nurse is here now," says Michelle. "That's fine with me," says David. David takes Michelle's hand then the two of them head into the school's building. Unfortunately, the nurse wasn't there.

The school bell starts to ring "Let's go, get to class, I want these halls clear" shouts the school's security guard. David kissed Michelle on her cheek, then says "we'll see if she's available on our lunch period". "Okay I'll see you then," says Michelle. They both walk in two different directions. While walking into chemistry class David takes a seat in the back next to Kevin. "What's up man," says David who's talking to Kevin. Kevin replies and says "Nothing".

"Okay class settles down the bell has rung and there are notes on the blackboard that you need to write down in your notebooks because there will be a quiz this Friday," says Mrs. Jameson. Everybody started copying the notes from the blackboard, Kevin was the only one in class not doing what he was supposed to do. Mrs. Jameson quickly notices. "Young man why aren't you copying the notes?" says Mrs. Jameson. "I forgot my notebook I left it at home," says Kevin. "Well you could ask one of your classmates for a couple of sheets of paper instead of just sitting there like a bump on a log," says Mrs. Jameson.

Before Kevin turns to ask David can he borrow some paper he gives Mrs. Jameson a serious mean mug. "There is no need to look at me like that because all you're doing is preparing your face for permanent expression lines. Kevin turns to David to ask him if he could borrow a couple of sheets of paper and a pen to copy the notes from the blackboard. David opens his folder and hands, Kevin, some paper, and a pen. For fifteen minutes the class sat quietly in their seat copying the notes.

While trying to copy the notes from the blackboard Kevin had a hard time seeing the board because he needed eyeglasses. No one in his family has ever taken him to the eye doctor, Kevin just copied what he thought he saw. There were about fifteen more minutes of class time left, the students were just about finished copying the notes from the blackboard. "Man I've got a serious hand cramp," says David.
