You can have the bed while I take the floor; Summer said
What room; Henry asked as there was barely any room on the floor
I will find some; Summer said gruftly
Okay snoody pants; Henry said
For your own luck, I dont wear pants; Summer said grabbing a blanket
Henry laughed at her as she too realized there was no room to sleep on the floor
I will take one side but no touchin; Summer said crawling in the bed
Yes, Ma'am; Henry said and got in bed next to her. She had already aligned what looked to be a wall to him as she turned her back
You have to be telling lies. Did you just toot; Summer said
Yes, Ma'am I did; Henry said
Summer arose from the bed and hit him with the straw pillow
That hurts; Henry said
Oh I am so sorry; Summer said
Henry pretended to be hurt then swung Summer around and began to tickle her. She laughed at him. It had been a while since she laughed as her tone was always serious. Her mama told her to stop cussing and being stubborn as she wasn't brought up that way but Summer ignored it. Henry had cradled Summer in his arms and held her against his chest. Could it be that she was falling in love?
What was that; Summer asked as she heard a loud bang
BOY WE KNOW YOUR IN THERE. COME ON OUT; Sherriff Caden said
Oh no! Its him; Henry asked
Summer immediately knew and quickly got the kids awakened. Madison looked terrified as thet exited the room, they saw that Bob and Carol were awakened
Shoot! I don't know what the hell going on between yall but we will help; Bob said
Go out this way; Carol said and opened a door in the floor
Lean right and you will be in town. Hurry please go; Bob said
Will you two be alright; Henry asked as Summer held Mason and crawled down the steps then Madison came down
Yes, we have helped many before. Take this please; Carol said in worry and handed them some coins along with bread. The door to the front of the house slammed opened and Carol covered the bottom door. Summer and Henry ran as they heard things crashing above them. Once they made it into town, they undid the horses fast and put the children in the buggy
Sum of a bitch; Sherriff Caden yelled and shot at the wagon scaring the horses
Summer skinned her knee running after the wagon and got on fast as the horse began trodding faster into a trail along the woods
Is everyone okay; Summer asked
We are okay, mom; Madison said and Summer looked at her confused but accepted it
Henry are you alright; Summer asked
Just a little roughed up; He said pointing to a bullet wound in his shoulder
Henry stopped the wagon as they got far enough and Summer took over
I gotta make a left here next to this tree, theres a farm and I know a couple there who could help. Scarlette and Taylor who were friends of my sisters but moved on; Summer said and took a left. Hennry nodded in approval as he felt drowsy while holding a piece of cloth to his shoulder. He couldn't ignore the looks Summer gave him, she was worried and scared for some odd reason even thought it was only a small bullet. It was almost as if she had been through it before but maybe that was because of Mason. Henry sighed and watched the scenery near him and there was a ranch home in the distance. He began to grow sleepy and fell against Summers soft arm. Could this be it? His death? He asked himself
