Yuri POV
I hurried up the stairs to the third floor, knowing with a sinking heart that I was already late. My teacher Mrs Haruka had left the whole class behind for behaving boisterously in the lesson. It was hardly fair as I had not done anything, but it would be suicide to complain to Mrs Haruka, she was the strictest teacher at this school and delighted in teaching dicipline to students in the most unfair ways.
I strode along the corridor walking faster then I normally do. I adjusted my hair as I made my way up to the door, bursting in a very bold way, totally different than my usual way of entering the clubroom.
'Oh my! I'm so sorry I'm late-!" I cried, "Please do-"
But I broke off as I noticed another girl, shorter even than Sayori, with candyfloss coloured hair. She turned around, and I took note of her brutish yet sweet expression. She scowled and turned red, in which I immediatly panicked internally. Did I piss her off?
"Ah Yuri! Just in time." Monika smiled. She gestured to the stumpy pink haired girl in front of me, "This is Natsuki, our club's newest member!"
"Pleased to meet you." I murmered, embarrased that I created such an impression on our new member. The one time I wasn't late-!
"Now all our members are here," Monika smiled, while I slipped into my usual seat and started to pull my comfortingly familiar book out of my bag, "I'll introduce us all.
"Sayori, the club's Vice President. She always has something nice to say or have a smile on her face!" Monika beemed at Sayori, and I sensed something behind those twinkling green eyes.
"Yuri, the smartest in the club!" Monika said cheerfully.
"D-don't say things l'like that." I muttered. I hate being introduced as smart just because I like reading. "We're all smart... in our own way."
"Yeah Yuri's the most modest as well!" Monika chuckled. I felt an uncomfortable sting, but decided to keep quiet.
"And... me I guess." Monika shrugged, "Just Monika. The president."
"Don't say that!" Sayori yelled, "You're super nice and... a good president!" She leapt off of her desk and hugged Monika, seemily squeezing the life out of her.
"Ok, ok!" Monika laughed, "Just please let go!"
I felt a surge of happiness from seeing my two best friends so happy, and yet a guitly bitter taste of envy. Sayori and Monika seemed much closer to each other than me.
"Cool!" Natsuki said, "Yeah I really want to join this club, but... could I ask something first?"
