Yuri POV
Natsuki's poem had been so good, and it was her first one to. I was too busy thinking about it that Monika guessed somthing was wrong and asked me,
"Yuri you seem very distracted. You know you can always talk to me if something's bothering you."
"Of course Monika." I replied, though I hadn't told her any of my problems since joining the club, "I was... " I hesitated, and Monika peered at me strangely, "I was just thinking about Natsuki's poem, it was much better than I thought it would be since it was her first."
Monika giggled, "Do you have a crush on her Yuri? I admit it's good, but it's not that good that you should be so distracted by it!"
Do you have a crush on her Yuri?
I thought about it, while Natsuki sat slumped in a corner, manga resting on her knee and Monika was laughing with Sayori. I delicately licked the sweet purple icing off of my cupcake. It really was amazing, I could never bake as well as her. And... wasn't baking a good thing to look for in wives? I blushed at the thought of coming home to Natsuki's baking, her greeting me with...
I shook my head, was I always such a pervert? Why was I thinking such thoughts? I had never thought of even holding hands with someone, let alone... kissing them. The mere thought made me blush.
"Okaaay everyone!" Monika's chirpy voice pushed all these thoughts from my mind, "I was wondering, we haven't really hung out outside the clubroom, so I was thinking we could host a sleepover in the christmas holidays."
We all lit up. A sleepover with these girls seemed perfect. I couldn't help myself and blurted out,
"We can have it at my house! I have some spare beds we can use." I blushed, but they all smiled, including (this made me blush even more) Natsuki.
"How about New Years?" Sayori asked, "We can stay up until the countdown!"
"Great idea!" Monika cried, "My family don't celebrate New Year's that much, so I can definatly come over!"
Sayori nodded, and Natsuki mumbled something in agreement about her dad.
"Well that settles it!" Monika smiled, "Yuri could you text your address on the group chat, and we'll settle all the times and everything on there!" I nodded, and Monika clapped her hands together, "I can't wait!"
Neither could I.
***
The days flew by, and before I knew it the christmas holiday had started. Normally I hated the holidays, but now I had the sleepover to look forward to. My parents had decided a rich bachelor's party in Portugal was more important than me, and had swept off with as much as a note explaining their "difficult decision".
Before I knew it, it was Christmas Eve. I had decorated my house (with lots of heavy boxes - Monika would be proud) and it had taken ages, but I hardly saw the point now. I was the only person who would be spending christmas in this house. I had considered texting one of my friends, but I decided against that idea; they were most likely spending christmas with their families.
I sipped my glass of wine as I stared at my empty stocking hanging in front of my fireplace. The cuts on my arms were fresh, but that didn't really matter. I felt a bit bad about doing it on Christmas Eve, but it was the only thing that had helped. I was on my sixth - or was it seventh? - glass of wine, waiting for midnight to roll around. it was about half past 10 when the doorball rang, ringing through the air and alerting me.
Who could be calling at this hour? Carol singers probably. I tugged on a sweater and got up to answer the door.
It was... Natsuki.
She was looking away, blushing and her arms were crossed. I stood there like an idiot for about a minute, before realising how cold it was.
"C-come in, you must be freezing." I said, welcoming her inside. I felt a shiver vibrate through my body. Natsuki was in my house! I tried to keep my words from slurring as I asked, "Why are here N-Natsuki? You should be with your family." I hiccuped loudly and put my finger to my mouth.
Natsuki averted her eyes, "Are you drinking?" She turned to look at me, "Yuri!"
"I'm not a bloody alcoholic if that's what you're saying." She had plonked down on the sofa, and I sat beside her, "I just wanted to see how it tasted."
"You're underaged..." Natsuki muttered. I ignored her.
"Why are you here?" My words were slurred and I hiccuped again.
"Because dummy," Natsuki started crossly, and I couldn't help smiling at the way she was so flustered, "U-uhm you texted your address and since we're friends I thought-"
"Friends?" I asked. We had barely interacted during the last few days at the club beofre the holidays, only speaking when we shared poems. I downed another glass of wine.
"Whatever!" She shouted blushing harder, "And stop drinking! Because m-my dad is in another country and I didn't want to spend christmas alone." She averted her eyes.
I took a moment to pause and pour myself another glass of wine, ignoring Natsuki exarsperated groans of "Yuri! Stop drinking!" I sipped at the sweet wine. Natsuki had came to my house, out of Monika and Sayori, whom I always assumed she prefered.
"M-my parents are in another country to." I said, no longer trying to prevent my words from slurring. "We - hic - have so much in common."
My thoughts were blurring, and Natsuki's voice sounded far away. Was this what being drunk was like? I liked it a lot. My head felt clear. And Natuski... was next to me.
Heyy, sorry if it seems a bit weird jumping to this christmas scene so quickly but I really wanted to write this chapter and I didn't know what to write for the clubroom scenes. I hope you enjoyed :)
