Chapter 24

Chapter 24

5 years later

Papa Emeritus IV POV

"That's it, Celestial big push now," I say as she squeezes my hand so hard I almost pass out from the pain. She cries again "I can't... I can't... it hurts... No more Copia after this one we're finished having kids" she sobs and it pains me to see her this way. "One more push and our baby will be here? remember? we've done this before you've got this " I say rubbing her cheek with my thumb and she nods before repositioning and bearing down.

The sound of tiny cries fills the infirmary as the doctor passes me the umbilical scissors to cut the cord. I can't believe the baby is finally here. I cry as I see the tiny human in front of me and I shakily cut the cord before the baby is whisked away to be cleaned and measured. I hear Celestial groan and I turn to her in shock. "What's happening are you ok?" I panicked and grabbed her hand and then turned to the doctor.

"It seems she's having more contractions, Papa. TWINS! I SEE ANOTHER HEAD!! Nurse, I need your assistance!" the doctor yells as Celestial begins to push once more. Twins... "Twins?!" Celestial and I shouted at the same time looking at each other shocked. In the Church's long history there have never been twins. "AHHHH FUCKING SATAN BELOW!! GET. IT. OUT!!" Celestial screams as another contraction hit full force. No more than five minutes later another beautiful baby entered our world. "Girls! Both girls! Congratulations to you two!" The doctor cheers, handing the scissors once more and I cut the cord.

Once the second baby is cleaned up the doctor and nurse hand them to us. "Two...Copia there's two of them..." Celestial looks at me wide-eyed before laughing lightly and kissing baby one on the head. I can't help but smile from ear to ear. "I'll leave you all to get acquainted but I wanted to know do you have any names picked out?" the doctor asks, smiling at both of us. I look down at the little girl in my arms, her eyes open slightly and my whole world stops. My perfect fallen angels already had me wrapped around their little fingers. I couldn't wait to tell Sunshine and Aether. They were in our nursery looking after our first child, a little boy, Tobias. Four years old and running us around like crazy but he was so smart.

"Elizabeth?" I say looking up to Celestial who smiles and nods. "And baby two?" He turns to Celestial. "Cirice" she smiles at the small bundle in her arms who lets out the cutest sneeze imaginable. Smitten. That was the only way to describe how I felt. "Perfect. Lovely names. We will leave you for a while and we'll come back and do some tests later, ok?" The nurse and doctor smile leaving the room.

"I can't believe it...two of them!" I am unable to hide my smile. "One of them was hiding clearly. They didn't show up in any of the scans" Celestial laughs lightly looking at me and Elizabeth. "Will they be allowed to take over when they're old enough? They're both girls?" Celestial asks, looking at Cirice rocking her lightly. "Of course, gender won't stop their birthright. They can still be Papa when the time comes. I'll make sure there is no discrimination." I nod adamantly, reassuring her.

A few hours had passed. Celestial and I learnt how to feed the babies correctly and how to dress them and wash them. Sister Imperator and I's relationship had gotten better since that fateful day 5 years ago. I had begun to see her as my mother and she adored Celestial. When my Papal duties took me elsewhere she stood by Celestial's side and helped her through the pregnancy and took care of the ministry if I was travelling. She was more excited than Celestial and I combined when she found out Celestial and I had conceived again after Tobias. I couldn't wait for her to visit and find out it was twins.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear as they say. A knock at the door woke Celestial and the babies safely secured in their crib. I opened the door slightly and peeked through to see Sister Imperator standing teary-eyed. "Is the baby here? Can I see?" she asks quietly, trying to peek around me to get a view. I laugh lightly and pull her in for a hug. "They're both happy and healthy. Come on in." I say and she gasps her hand flying to cover her mouth. "Both? Twins?" she sobs out speed walking past me and pulling Celestial into a bone-breaking hug causing her to groan slightly.

"I'm so happy for you both now where are my grandbabies?" she asks, pulling away and wiping her eyes. "Right there" I point to the cribs at the side. She quietly walks over peering into the bassinets. "Oh look, they have your eye." she turns to me smiling. I walked over and stood behind and she was right. They had both developed the white eye. The other eye was the same pale blue as Celestial. They were both going to be little heartbreakers when they grew up. I could already tell Celestial and I had our work cut out for us but we were happy. We were finally a complete family. We had finally found our purpose and our happy place.

Another knock at the door had all of us looking to find the door swing open and the curtain pulled aside to find one green and one white piercing eye gleaming up at me. "Daddy...Baby is here?" Tobias asks, smiling toothily at me with his chubby little cheeks his brown hair flopping into his eyes slightly. I pick him up and spin him around which makes him giggle loudly. "You're supposed to be with Aether and Sunshine." I laugh with Celestial. The two Ghouls follow into the room breathlessly as they had clearly been chasing him around the ministry. "Sorry sorry...he legged it the moment he saw Sister Imperator rushing towards the infirmary." They panted out leaning against the wall.

"You have two sisters Tobe" Celestial smiles, reaching for the boy and placing him on the bed next to her. "Two?!" he beams up at her wiggling with excitement. "Elizabeth and Cirice." she smiles at him. "Lizbeth and Reece '' he struggles with their names but smiles so big I thought he'd explode. "You want to hold your sister's Tobe?" Celestial asks, stroking his arm. "Yes yes yes!!!" he yelled excitedly. Imperator and I take one of the girls each before sitting at the end of the bed and Celestial takes Elizabeth and rests her on Tobias's legs and he stroked her cheek completely infatuated. I pick Elizabeth back up and place her back in the bassinet then take my seat once more before picking up Cirice from Imperator and passing her to Celestial who places her on Tobias' lap and he tears up. "They're so pretty mummy. You did a good job." he looks up to Celestial and places his chubby little hand on her cheek before looking down at his other sister.

"Why don't you let Sunshine and Aether take you back upstairs? Mummy and Daddy will be back soon ok?" I ask as Celestial picks up Cirice and snuggles her to her chest. "Ok daddy" he smiles, raising his arms for me to pick him up. I place a big wet kiss on his cheek which makes him squeal and wiggle out of my arms and run over to the ghouls who had finally caught their breath. "Be good Tobias." Celestial calls after him with a chuckle as he runs out with the ghouls.

"I'm very proud of both of you. What you've done with the church has been better than I could have ever imagined. And the family you've created, I'm so very proud." Sister Imperator chokes out grabbing each of our hands before excusing herself and leaving us alone. She was still learning that showing emotion wasn't a bad thing but we were working on it. Baby steps. 

"So what now?" I ask turning to Celestial who still hasn't stopped smiling. "We go be a family. I love you Copia" she chuckles, pulling me in for a kiss. Thank Satan he brought this woman to the church. "I love you more.".
