Diedre thinks about the quote by Atticus quite often. The one where he says, "I've spent a life chasing stories to tell when I'm old".

He feels that this quote sums up his life up until this point where he was packing his and the di Angelo siblings bags to endanger themselves again in some plot to save the world. He was supposed to reach Percy's home with the two of them where all of them would then drive together to pick up Annabeth and Thalia to drive off to their certain doom.

Nico shouted from the place where he was goofing around with Bianca, "Dee, are you done? Can we leave now?"

Diedre looked up from the packing and yelled back, "Give me a few. You two can run to Percy's. Don't talk to strangers-"

"Don't take stuff from strangers, don't pick up suspicious stuff lying around and when we see a monster, we run back home. We already know it," both Bianca and Nico sang back at him and grinned as they rushed out of the door.

Diedre smiled as he quickly finished packing up his bags and then rushed upstairs to say goodbye to his mother from another world. She was sound asleep with a lot of work piled on her desk so he let her sleep and kissed her forehead and went away.

It was an eight-hour drive from New York to Bar Harbor, Maine. Sleet and snow pounded the highway. Annabeth, Thalia, Diedre and Percy hadn't seen each other in months, but between the blizzard and the thought of what they were about to do, they were too nervous to talk much. Except for Percy's mom. She talks more when she's nervous. By the time they finally got to Westover Hall, it was getting dark, and she'd told Nico, Bianca Annabeth and Thalia every embarrassing baby story there was to tell about Percy and Diedre.

So now there was enough blackmail material against the saviour of Olympus and the reincarnated kid who was silently counting his losses.

Thalia wiped the fog off the car window and peered outside. "Oh, yeah. That'll be fun."

Westover Hall looked like an evil knight's castle. It was all black stone, with towers and slit windows and a big set of wooden double doors. It stood on a snowy cliff overlooking this big frosty forest on one side and the grey churning ocean on the other.

"Are you sure you don't want me to wait?" Percy's mother asked.

"No, thanks, Mom," Percy said. "I don't know how long it will take. We'll be okay."

"But how will you get back? I'm worried, Percy."

"It's okay, Ms Jackson." Annabeth smiled reassuringly. Her blond hair was tucked into a ski cap and her grey eyes were the same colour as the ocean. "We'll keep him out of trouble."

Sally seemed to relax a little. She thinks Annabeth is the most levelheaded demigod ever to hit eighth grade. She's sure Annabeth often keeps them from getting killed. She's right, but Diedre does it much better so sucks to be sucky.

"All right, dears," my mom said. "Do you have everything you need?" "Yes, Ms Jackson," Thalia said. "Thanks for the ride."
"Extra sweaters? You have my cell phone number?"
"Mom—"

"Your ambrosia and nectar, Percy? And a golden drachma in case you need to contact camp? What about you Diedre? You have everything right? "

"Yeah Aunty, I have everything so don't worry much, I'll keep all of them safe," Diedre said.

"But you are the one I worry the most over," Sally Jackson says, caressing his face and giving him a sad smile. "I'll get going then," she said.

"Bye Mom," Percy shouted while Diedre just waved back at her.
