That night was a roller coaster and it was the understatement of the decade.
As soon as the meeting was over, both Zoe and Diedre rushed to the Hermes Cabin and pulled Bianca aside for a talk. Nico gave worried looks towards both her and Diedre.
Diedre forgot how much Nico truly loved his sister and Diedre would never forgive himself if he failed to protect the both of them from harm.
Or Hades would harm him, he thought glumly.
Thank gods for Bianca, who was more clever than she seemed so when Zoe brought up her proposition, one glance towards his frantic face, her immediate response was no.
At least she would be safe. Diedre could keep her safe if she stayed in the camp along with Nico and Yash and Theo.
Before Zoe and he parted in front of the common area, he said, "I'll come as the third member."
Zoe gave him a look that practically screamed disbelief and said, "Hadn't thou heard what I had said before or is it just an ability of males to not listen."
Diedre cursed. As much as he loved all the characters, some annoyed him too much in real life and said, "Zoe Nightshade, I hope you haven't forgotten who I am. I am the son of Apollo and nephew to your beloved goddess Artemis. I don't think anyone has more right than me to go on the quest."
Zoe rounded up and said, "I have told thou before. I will not allow a male to join my quest and my word is final."
Diedre sneered and then turned away. He had to go on the quest somehow.

It was already nearing the lights out when Diedre saw the girl by the fire. He went over to ask her to go to bed when he noticed who she was. Lady Hestia was sitting in all her glory so Diedre sat down quietly.
"Diedre Hayes, I can see you are troubled. Would you mind sharing a few words with me?"
Diedre nodded and moved closer to the Lady but still kept a respectable enough distance between them. Hestia offered him a cup of hot chocolate, seemingly out of nowhere.
"Now tell me, what is troubling you?"
Diedre sighed and said, "I offer my greetings to Lady Hestia and appreciate your generosity, but I don't you would like to hear my woes."
Hestia smiled warmly at him and all the tension bled out of his shoulders and she said, "Don't worry Diedre. I have taken up the duty of the heart after all."
"I'm worried about my siblings," he said, "Bianca and Nico."
"But they aren't truly your siblings."
"But I have taken care of them for two years now. We don't need blood to bind us to each other."
"And why are you worried about them?"
"My visions. They tell me that they'll be in trouble."
Hestia hummed and said, "The future is truly a troubling thing and it is sad that a boy as young as you need to worry about it. The only advice that I can give now? Do what you think is right. Do it because you are sure."
Diedre hummed and said, "But should I really do it? I shouldn't dictate their lives."
Hestia glanced over at him and smiled, "Oh, you truly are Apollo's son. He puts up such an indifferent and confident front but as soon as one of his dear ones is in trouble, he rushes to help them."
She continued, "Diedre, protecting your family comes first. If you think they are to be protected, then you should do it. Now you should go. Sleep on it a bit."
