Chapter 3:
"That's 64.39." The kind cashier of Top Shop spoke to me.
I handed her my credit card which she quickly swiped completing the transaction.
"Have a lovely day!" She smiled. I grabbed my bags and quickly headed for the door. Crisp air struck my face as dry wind swirled around my petite body. The sidewalks was slick and clearly hasn't been salted in recent time. I lightly maneuvered through people frantically shopping for the upcoming holidays. Glowing lights distracted me from my destination. My eyes laid upon a sterling silver necklace with a swallow elegantly soaring in the sky. It sparkled when a few rays of sun landed upon it. I checked my wallet to see how much money I had left. Little to my knowledge, I nearly had enough to finish Christmas shopping which left the necklace out of the question. A sigh flew out of my mouth and I quickly walked away turing the corner onto another busy downtown avenue. A freezing gust of wind shot out and knocked over an older lady, spilling all of her groceries. She looked shocked and embarrassed but I didn't have time to care. I continued walking eager to get out of the elements. Another gust of wind came forcing my head to the left to get away from the brutal, stinging air.
"Nice to see you again!" A familiar voice sounded.
My eyes widened as Niall gave me a disturbing wink.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in astonishment.
"The same thing as you, shopping." He casually carried on as if we had been friends for years.
I stopped in my tracks blocking the citizens behind me. This stranger seemed far too comfortable with me.
"How do you keep finding me?" I abruptly asked.
"Coincidence." He replied. The way he smiled with the crystal blue eyes captivated me.
"Creeper." I mumbled.
He chuckled under his breath. The tone in which he laughed could light up anybodies day. I could help but laugh along.
"Would you like a drink?" He vaguely asked as we approached the corner cafe.
"Um... Sure." I replied reaching for my wallet.
"That won't be necessary." He quickly responded pushing my hand back down into my purse. His sweet touch was so gentle and comforting that I almost forgot to speak.
"No that's okay I-" I spat out before being interrupted.
"No."

"I insist." Eve spoke nervously pulling out her wallet again and opening it. I couldn't help but notice a picture.
"Who are the people in that picture?" I couldn't seem to control the words flying out of my mouth.
"That's my mother and I, before she was k-killed." Her voice was full of despair.
"She was beautiful, just like you." I tried to soothe her but I was only able to get a small smile.
"She was." Eve replied.
I put her wallet back in her purse. We ordered and received our hot drinks. That's when it hit me. My back arched as soft feathers attempt to reveal themselves. Eve gave me a strange look as I rapidly grabbed my back forcing my wings back behind my shoulder blades. She couldn't know I was a holy being, at least not yet.
"Just snow down my back." This was the only excuse to ever lie to a human. She just let out a laugh, thank goodness! But something told me she didn't be my pathetic lie. The way she stood their staring at me let me know. It was me, I took her mother away from her! After the crash, I took her to heaven! Thats why I'm so connected to her. I should have recognized those brunette curls she had when she was six. I'm so stupid!
"I need to go." I spat to Eve before beginning to scurry away.
"Okay, see you later. You should, uh, text me sometime. Here!" She exclaimed handing me a piece of paper.
"Alright bye."
*Eve's P.O.V*
There was something unusual about the way Niall had asked me about my mother. I had no problem telling him what happened if he already knew. His response was comforting almost like the invisible hand I felt my on shoulder when my father gave me the news. I didn't want him to leave me there alone in the middle of town. I wanted Niall to take me with him, I didn't even get to thank him.
