Chapter 24:

As I shifted my weak body over to my back in the soft queen sized bed, I flopped my arm to the left in search of Niall only to be disappointed that he wasn't there. I leaned up against the headboard and picked up my phone. It was already

11:45 am. Jet lag had really hit me. I crawled out of bed and headed down stairs to look for everybody. As soon as I opened the door a sudden smell of vanilla, cinnamon and strawberries filled the room all the way up to the tall ceilings.

"Morning sleepy head!" Niall teased once he saw me approach the banister at the top of the stairs that viewed almost the entire lower level of the house.

"Morning." I yawned.

From the edge of the banister lined balcony. I could already tell how active this family was. The windows and doors were open allowing a refreshing breeze to pass through. Gina was in the kitchen, which wasn't a surprise to me. Outside of the giant A-frame window I could see Ben skimming the pool, Tom mowing the grass and Lana picking some fruit off of a tree.Then there was Niall who was sitting in the couch with the TV on with a plate full of food on his lap. I must've rubbed off on him.

"I've got some chocolate chip pancakes right here if you are hungry, Eve." Gina greeted.

"Yay! My favorite!" I smiled as my bare feet hit the hardwood floor.

"Here you go love!" She handed me a plate.

"Help yourself to more!" She encouraged.

The pancakes she had made looked like something out of a magazine. They were perfectly golden brown and delicately sprinkled with powder sugar. Sliced strawberries were lined around a spiral of whipped cream that had chocolate syrup drizzled on top and was scattered with mini chocolate chips. It was simply delightful.

"What time did you wake up Niall?" I questioned.

"Like 8:45 ish."

"Why did the jet lag get me and not you?" I asked somewhat jealous of his adjustment skills.

"I've done this a few more times than you have hun." Niall chuckled.

"Hey guys." Lana came in carrying a big basket of fruit.

"Hi." Niall and I said simultaneously.

"What are you doing today?"

"Hanging out here for a while and then going to check out Uncle Len's house. It sounds nice." Niall explained.

"The one on the lake?" Lana continued to question.

"Yeah." Niall flatly stated.

"On the lake?" She emphasized the word the.

"Uh yeah." Niall blushed.

At this point I was confused out of my mind.

"Ooooo Niall! Taking Eve to the lake!" Lana giggled trying to further embarrass her brother.

"Okay um what the heck are you talking about?" I finally butted in.

"I'll explain later." Niall mumbled.

"Just tell me n-"

"Hey mom Niall is taking Eve to the lake!" Lana yelled across the house.

Almost instantly Gina was in the room with a shocked expression.

"Uhh lets go outside Eve." Niall anxiously pulled me outback.

"What was that all about?" I kept asking and beginning to become angry.
