Chapter 16:
*Niall's P.O.V*
I rolled over onto my stomach reaching for Eve's warm body to hold close to mine. I felt around a bit looking for my beauty but she wasn't there. Frustrated with her absence and my desire to snuggle, I crawled out of bed to look for her. The creek of the old hardwood floors must've caught her attention as I found her in the kitchen with her eyes directed towards the door while she stirred some tea, her eyes were red and puffy.
"Hey." She spoke as if she hadn't been crying.
"Its quite early for you to be awake. Is everything alright?" I asked.
"Its 8:30. Everything is fine."
I could see right through her lie.
"You know better that to lie to me Eve."
"No I'm fine Niall. Here. I made you some tea." She said while handing me the cup.
"Thank you! Now explain to me why your eyes are so red."
I wanted to know what was wrong so I could make it better.
"The pictures were just... To much." She sighed.
Words couldn't describe the pain I went through to see the love of my life so heartbroken. Of course I was more than saddened to see the man who brought such a beautiful girl into the world pass on but it hurt more to see Eve as she was. She was trying to be strong and look forward but its easier said than done.
"Can I see them?" I questioned.
"Go ahead. They are on my laptop." Eve instructed before walking elsewhere.
I lifted the top and instantly noticed her wall paper. A father holding his new born daughter in his hands with the biggest smile on his face. It made me want to cry myself. She was so precious all wrapped up in a pink blanket with a stripped hat on her little head. There was a page minimized at the bottom of the screen that I assumed was the email. I opened it to see nearly fifty attachments sent to Gabby. I clicked though them picture by picture. People say a picture is worth a thousand words but when it comes down to it, pictures can't be labeled with words. Words can't express the real feelings behind the print and can't compare to the experiences they captured in such a small rectangle. Just like how Eve expressed her sorrow in tears, they couldn't say how she really felt and what she was really going through. Nothing could. No matter how much I wanted to aid her in her desperate grieving and guide her back to happiness, I would never be able to comprehend the torture she had been through.
"Niall?" Eve gracefully interrupted my thoughts.
"Yes?"
"Do you think we could pick up my aunt, uncle and cousins from the airport and drop them off at their hotel?"
"Of course!" I replied excited to meet them.
"Great thanks!" She said walking over to me. She snaked her feminine toned arms around my neck and leaned her head on mine. Her dark brunette waves toppled over her shoulder and ticked my bare chest.
"Wow." The word escaped my mouth in a whisper.
"What?" Eve asked with a light kiss on my cheek.
"Oh I umm I'm just cold. Its not usually this cold in here." I lied.
"Well put a shirt on you idiot!" She teased.
I couldn't say what I really wanted to. I didn't think it was possible to express this feeling anyway. The feeling that came along with Eve's presence. Nothing was missing any more, she was the final piece to my life. I loved her than I thought possible. There wasn't a big enough number to relate to the size of my love for her. Any would be an understatement. Eve was just... Wow. She perfect in the most imperfect way, sure she had been through rough times and turned cold for awhile but I could see through that. She had the biggest, warmest, most caring heart a person could have but was afraid to show it. I couldn't blame her. She was amazing and most importantly... Mine.
