Chapter 14:
"Eve!" Niall enthusiastically hummed in my ear the next morning, the second day of my living hell.
"Eve hun its a new day!"
"Noooo.." I mumbled rubbing my light stunned eyes.
"You know I'm not going let you sleep around all day." He taunted while beginning to tickle me.
"Nooooo!" I shouted attempting to roll from my side to my stomach as far away from Niall as possible.
"Oh I don't think so!" He stopped me in my tracks tackling me with tickles. I couldn't help but laugh a bit and release a wide smile.
"There's that smile I was looking for!"
As soon as Niall said that it dissipated into a straight face.
"You are so mean to me!" He spoke with fake aggravation.
"What did I do?" I replied.
"As soon as I said 'there's that smile' you stopped smiling!"
"Oh." Was all I responded.
"I guess I'm just going to have to make you smile some more!" He warned and the tickle attack commenced. A little ways into it I gave into my emotionless disguise and and let a giggle fly my mouth.
"Okay now freeze! You are going to keep that smile on, right?" Niall questioned.
I shrugged my shoulders signaling that I wasn't sure.
"Yes, yes you are! Are we are going to have a good day today, right?" He held out the 'i' sound.
"Maybe.."
"I'll take that as a yes!" Niall spoke with a smirk.
"Okay." I smiled again with a slight blush.
"Excellent! Now come on! We got tons if stuff to do today!" Niall encouraged.
"No not yet." I wanted to hide in my misery for a little while longer.
"Yes now." Niall giggled tugging me out of bed and dragging me down the hall.
"Okay what would you like for breakfast?" Niall asked while rummaging through the fridge.
"To go back to bed." I whined.
"Chocolate milk! Sounds good to me!"
"Chocolate milk?" I replied with a surprised in an unimpressed way face.
"Yes chocolate milk! Are you complaining?"
"No not at all but I said I wanted to go back to sleep." I snapped.
He dropped what he was doing and cornered me into the counter and lifted me up onto it so my head towering above his.
"Somebody is being a bit sassy today isn't she?"
He wrapped his hands around the small of the back and pressed our foreheads together and kissed me.
"Not me!" I giggled in response. I was tired and depressed not sassy but choose to make the best out of it.
Niall really did know how to cheer me up. He didn't let me sleep around and mourn all day. Even though I wanted too do just that, I knew it wouldn't do a thing to help get past anything. He was begin cheeky and enthusiastic which he had clearly figured out I loved and couldn't deny being happy around. Though I was obviously still grieving, and that wouldn't be changing anytime soon, Niall brought the best out of me.
"I should probably call my landlord, shouldn't I?" I asked.
"That's all up to you. When ever you feel ready." Niall replied.
The truth was I wasn't going to be ready. It wasn't that I didn't want to live with Niall or that I had to do this for my father, it was just hard to process all these decisions that were so influential on my life in such little time. But once again, mourning might feel like its helping but would get me nowhere. This I needed to remember.
I picked up my phone and called my landlord giving him the news. It was a done deal now and I had 30 days to be completely out and have the house cleaned up.
"Well now what do we do?" I interrogated Niall.
"Its up to you. We can start moving now or we can just relax... For a while."
"I guess theirs no better time than the present."
"Sounds good to me!"
I could tell he was excited about me moving in with him. We loaded up his car with some of my smaller items while throwing out some on the way. I didn't plan on getting too in depth into moving today. I was still exhausted and even though Niall seemed so energetic on the surface I could tell he was tired as well. We when to his house and unloaded setting everything in his living room for now.
"Are you hungry?" Niall asked.
"Yeah, are you?"
"Always! Do you wanna stop and get something to eat?"
"That would be lovely." I chuckled.
"Where do you want to go?"
I decided to take advantage of the situation.
"Subway."
"Really? We can go to a sit down restaurant if you like."
"Nope, Subway."
"Okay then, sounds good to me."
We did just that and took it back to my house to eat. I couldn't say that for much longer...
"So now what are we going to do?" I questioned while throwing away my trash.
"Would you like to take a break or keep working?" Niall inquired.
I wanted to stop but I knew if I did then I wouldn't be able to control my tear jerking emotions.
"Lets keep working." I suggested.
Once again we loaded up some things but nothing big yet and dropped them off at his house.
"Are you hungry?" Niall asked.
"No. We just ate like 45 minutes ago!"
"Yeah well I'm hungry. Want some Dairy Queen?"
This was an offer I couldn't refuse. Ever.
"Of course I want some. Why'd you even ask?" I replied bringing some sassy into my tone.
I loved the fact that our local Dairy Queen was open all year round and was busy even on a freezing winter day. I ordered my usual blizzard and Niall ordered his own. We stood in the back of the room waiting for our ice cream treats to be prepared while others ordered their own.
I couldn't help but overhear the customer behind us and the cashier's conversation.
"That'll be $8.57."
"4, 5, oh my I'm so sorry have 5.45." The overwhelmed costumer spoke while counting some change in her hand as well as corraled the two little ones that ran around her legs.
"Here!" I happily acknowledged the lady and gave her my five dollar bill that I always kept for emergencies.
"I can't take this from you!"
"No please! Take it!" I encouraged.
"Thank you so much! I'll give you back the change."
"No no keep it! I insist!"
I felt like my heart was glowing from my sudden act of kindness.
"You are such an angel! Thank you so much!"
Ah I see. Now I understood where my sudden burst of sincerity came from. It was a great feeling to help her, I liked it. It helped me forget about yesterday and brought a genuine smile to my face.
"Did you like that?" Niall spoke as we exited.
"Yeah I did. It was nice."
A proud smile grew onto his pale face. It was so contagious and I could help but do the same.
