Walking into his driveway, Jay's body immediately tensed. Something was not right, he had thought. He scanned the surroundings, a trait he had after all those years in the army. He walked slowly, careful not to make any unnecessary noises. Everything seemed perfect, he had thought before his eyes fell on the door.

His rigid body tensed up but relaxed as he exhaled. The door was locked like usual only it wasn't. Because of his constant paranoia, he had the habit of locking the door in the most unusual ways. Today, the first lock was open, the second; locked whilst the third was also locked and the fourth was open. Right now, all four locks were locked. Whoever entered into his apartment was not as smart as they thought they were.

With a knowning smirk, he reached out for the gun tucked in his pants. With the other hand, he slowly opened up his door and walked in; the gun held firmly in his hands. Jay walked into his kitchen, throwing his eyes on the counter; immediately walking to the his small fridge for water. "I know that you're here." he had spoken after gulping the water down his throat. The loud thumping sound of footsteps forced him to speak again. "And you better not pull that gun shit on me again. Also please use the key I gave you. " he spoke again in a gruff voice, remembering the time she knocked him out with her gun the first time they had met.

"Ugh you're no fun, Halstead!" the voice grumbled, throwing the gun on the coffee table. Jay turned around to see, as expected; a pout on her face. He rolled his eyes as she plopped her what seems like her exhausted body onto his now messy couch. "To what do I own this pleasure, Alvarez?" Jay asked playfully.

"Well Halstead, you know about the case we're working on?" she had replied, in a less excited tone. "The one which you almost blew up?" Jay had retorted then responded to it almost immediately, "Yeah, I do." To which, Atalia grumbled and whispered ass, which of course Jay had heard. "It was completely your fault." Jay had snickered; earning a death glare from her.

Atalia's pov

Okay. Okay. I'll admit it was my fault but he doesn't have to tell me that literally every time we meet, which is like 20 times a week.

So to start it off, Ace Falcone and Xavier Mendez are at the top of Code Eleven's hit list. From selling drugs to guns to prostitutions, you name it; these two mfs have done it. That's where me and Jay come in. Everyone's after them including us. Being undercover for 8 months hasn't been, I think the word I'm looking for is fun? So when the opportunity to kill them rises, of course we took it but how was I supposed to know that Ace Falcone have a son, who I should add; doesn't know anything about his father's work. I was being smart and well......... I killed him without telling my partner. Now don't only I have a hit on my back but so does Jay, who let's just say; isn't happy at all.

Back to third pov

"Yeah. Yeah. Whatever." Atalia had spoken before continuing, "So Head Commissioner of Code Eleven thinks it's time we move to another hiding?" she had said in a slower tone, afraid Jay might go and try to fight the Commissioner again. "Huh." Jay had said in a small tone. "Huh? That's it. No freaking out." Atalia looked at him like he was crazy; well he possibly was.

"What can I do, lia? Fighting him didn't really help us." he responded, his hands waving around the room; reminding her on what the consequences of last time were. Instead of their large spacious house, they got a barely standing apartment. They barely managed to survive though, they always did. Which wasn't that bad but Jay felt like if he put up a fight again, this time might be worse.

Atalia sighed in response and stood up, walking slowly towards him. Jay's hand were on the counter as he furiously held onto the edges. She walked up to him, her hands gently carassing his back as she felt his body relax under her hands. He let out a breathy sigh and held onto her hands.

In a split of second, he turned around; hugging her. His face nested into her shoulders as her fingers now ran through his hair. Jay hummed in response, a sound he would make whenever she did it.

Immediately a smile replaced the worried look on her face; a small giggle escaping her mouth. Jay looked up at her with absolute certainty and happiness in the world and asked, "What's so funny, tesoro?" (darling)

His lips finding their way onto her face, kissing every inch of it from her forehead to her both rosy cheeks and stopping at her nose. "Nothing." she had whispered, letting out a small laugh which immediately resulted in a huge grin on Jay's face. Even though he hated everything that has happened in the last five years, finding Atalia was the best thing that has ever happened to him.

He rested his forehand on hers and asked in a raspy voice, "You still owe me a kiss from last night?" reminding her about when she promised him a good night kiss but then purposely fell asleep.

Atalia was pretty sure that all her insides were completely a puddle of liquid by now. It was a shock that even after three almost four years, he still had the same effect on her. She frowned, trying to hide the grin that was overtaking her face and pretended to think, "I don't know-" and before she could even finish up her sentence, he slammed his lips onto hers.

Raw. Possessive. Hungry. The kiss reminded her of their first kiss, which was about five months after they had met. Five months of constant torture led up to them finally kissing after an argument. To this day, she can't remember what it was they were fighting about but nevertheless felt really grateful for it. After that, countless dates, hangouts and countless makeouts took place before they both realised that they were in love.

With a tug of Jay's hair, Atalia slowly pulled away from the kiss, feeling breathless and laid her forehead onto his as he whispered in a raspy voice, "I love you, lia. Always have, always will." earning a I love you more from her. And that's how they spend time that day; in each other's embrace. Forgetting the list of problems they had.
