takes place after chapter13 - Navarro
The morning sun bathed Barcelona in a warm, golden light as Atalia and Jay waited outside their apartment. JJ and Spencer arrived promptly, their enthusiasm for the day evident. Spencer had his camera slung around his neck, ready to capture every detail, while JJ carried a small backpack filled with essentials.
“Good morning!” JJ greeted with a bright smile. “Ready to explore?”
“Absolutely,” Jay replied. “Atalia has planned a day of exploring some of the city’s hidden gems.”
Atalia grinned. “Yup, I’ve got a few places in mind that are off the beaten path. You’re going to love them!”
The group began their tour at a small, unassuming café tucked away in a narrow alley. The café, named “El Rincón Secreto,” was a favorite of locals but rarely frequented by tourists. Inside, the smell of freshly baked pastries and rich coffee filled the air. Atalia ordered a variety of traditional Spanish pastries, including churros and ensaïmadas, while Spencer eagerly absorbed the surroundings.
“This place is incredible,” Spencer said, his eyes wide as he scanned the cozy interior. “I love finding these little gems that offer a glimpse into local life. It’s fascinating how different this café is from the more touristy spots. The architecture, the colors, even the menu—it’s all so authentic.”
Atalia nodded, speaking in Spanish to the café owner. “"Buenos días! Este es un lugar muy especial que has creado." "Good morning! This is a very special place you have created."
The owner smiled and responded in kind, clearly pleased with Atalia’s appreciation. "Gracias, y espero que disfrutes de la comida." "Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the food."
As they sat down to enjoy their breakfast, Spencer continued his ramblings. “You know, Barcelona’s mix of medieval and modern architecture is really intriguing. The Gothic Quarter, with its labyrinthine streets and hidden squares, feels like stepping back in time. But then you have the modernist buildings by Gaudí, which are so innovative and ahead of their time. It’s like experiencing two different eras in one city.”
Atalia smiled, clearly enjoying the conversation. “It’s like Barcelona’s history is layered in its buildings and streets. There’s always something new to discover.”
