Ever since Ray Mond met Randy Bullet, he took care of her. He saved her from the cops, pulled her out of unwanted situations, and risked his life for her. They labeled it as 'ride or die' because no matter how difficult a situation was, they would be there for each other.

Even in the quiet moments, it was evident that they had each other's backs. She called him to ask about his plans or about his day, and he gave her encouragement and guidance when she was filled with doubt. They were like two puzzle pieces that completed each other, so alike and yet their differences filled the empty spaces.

She taught him about emotions, even when he refused to believe that he had any, and he taught her— well everything else, how to drive, hack, fight, shoot, and what it meant to have a family.

She felt indebted to him. He brought her into this life. She vowed to herself that one day she would be the one to save Randy Bullet.

As Ray sat on a bench across the street of Mission Row Police Department she pretended to scroll through her phone, but instead watched a blacked out limo pull up to the side entrance. She checked her pocket for the final time to feel the smooth little USB device that burned a hole in her jacket.

"The virus won't instantly delete the files," Mickey told her during their meeting. "It works over time, corrupting them to the point that they won't open. Just insert the device and let the code Yuno wrote do its magic. It will take a few minutes. The most important part— don't leave it or it will get traced back to your brother."

She rehearsed the plan in her head dozens of times but it didn't seem like it was enough. What if she forgot a step?

Ray moved across the street, and hid behind a small wall that separated the front of the building and the side entrance by the garages.

Ray peeked around the wall to see the driver in a red and black suit with the Cerberus logo open the door for the mayor. Mickey stepped out of the car, adjusted his tie, and flashed a smile to the nearby bystanders. She rolled her eyes when his annoyingly sweet laugh rang through the parking lot as Sam Baas came out to greet him. They shook hands and the Chief of Police invited him inside.

Ray ducked and scooted closer to the building, the side door was only ten feet away from her. She had to jump over the wall and run to the door. She reminded herself of Mickey's words, "it takes six seconds for the door to close and once it's shut, it's shut."

She heard a whole entourage of footsteps following the Mayor, one beep of a keycard unlocking the door, and a slight screech of metal on metal as the gears tried to pull the heavy door. "The door will beep again as it starts closing," Mickey's voice circled her mind.

The footsteps quieted down and the door beeped once. That was her queue.

"One," she silently counted and jumped over the wall, not caring if she's seen. If she got spotted, the whole operation would be over.
