Hellooo

I got a new profile picture

Isn't it awesome? It was drawn by @udon_gay2 (Twitter) I snatched the Bracelet, made a simple background and made it my pfp because I loved the art

Here's the full image if anyone's wondering:

Super cute!!

Onto more pressing topics: I have a plan to hopefully write more consistently entering this 2023, I've been more or less researching about weird human brain stuff and how we deal with tasks and whatnot.

Writers have what we like to call a "flow state" also known as "getting to the zone" where everything seems to magically work out and writing feels easy and fun rather than hard to start.

In this state, a writer can sit for hours without getting bored and get tons and tons of progress done, it doesn't happen a lot, but when it happens I use the opportunity to crank out the chapters, I'd say 80 to 90% of progress is done while in this flow state.

That's awesome and all but it's not a state I get to often, I need to find the way to consistently get into flow state (Or at the very least, get to flow state more often than normal) I'll be implementing some methods I've got from a few articles to try get things moving.

Some things I'll begin to try will be putting instrumental music (I'll go with Lo-Fi cause it's chill) while I write, put on an alarm each day to try help knock off the procrastination, turning off my phone and leaving it in another room and even using a Virtual Machine w/ Lubuntu to write just to make sure I do NOT open any social media while I'm writing.

There's a second problem I also identified, a lot of the reason of why I fail to make progress is because when I hit a roadblock and I finish writing for that day I end up not continuing for a long time, demotivated perhaps by the lack just by thinking about said roadblock in a few days, weeks or even months that demotivation is now fueled by the fact that I've been off the platform for far too long, I get anxious to even open Wattpad at all (Sheer number of notification also cause some anxiety) so I just... don't

After going through some articles and websites and finding other people that have the same problem of struggling to start, I've decided to start using the "Don't Break The Streak" (Or "The Seinfeld Stategy") method tomorrow.

"Basically, you pick a task that is meaningful to you (but still simple enough to do consistently) and mark your progress on a calendar. Each day you complete the task, you mark it with an X, with the ultimate aim being to not break the chain." (Extract from a Bryan Teare article)

I'll implement that to my writing process, I'll allow myself to mark the day with an X if I sit down and write for at the very least 10 minutes, it gives me some leeway to get into that flow state and perhaps write for way longer but if in some days I'm not feeling it I can just log off after 10 minutes and try again the next day.

So that's the plan, I'll implement it throught December as a test month and if it works out I'll use it on the entire year of 2023. I'm really hoping to see results, I'll finish classes in about a week and graduate sometime after that.

This is not a promise but it is a goal of mine; potential release date for ADFB 20 is December 25th, I really hope I can gift you all a new chapter this christmas, if I can then that means my methods worked on a short-term period, that'll be good news

See you guys 'round
