"Your battle is my battle. We fight together."

I stormed toward the band as per Caroline's orders as the blonde vampire began to run around and steal empty flute glasses from guests' tables. She silently argued with a waiter as she claimed there should have been no empty glasses on the tables.

I stopped just in front of the band holding instruments, their music more of an orchestral style than I would have gone for. My inner Caroline revealed itself as I commanded, "Will you guys pick up the tempo? This is a pageant, not a funeral." Scoffing under my breath, I turned around and began looking for other imperfections I could fix.

This has to be absolutely perfect, Caroline had said. And you, as my partner in crime, must help me with my royal duties.

I enjoyed it very much. Not the duties part, but the bossing people around while simultaneously pissing them off part.

The music changed quickly, switching to something more upbeat and immediately the crowd seemed lighter, laughing beginning to filter through the air as if the music had changed everything. I nodded my head absently as I surveyed my surroundings, still walking as my head turned every direction.

My steps slowed as my eyes caught on someone. "And how am I doing?" the hybrid said as he came into view.

I suppressed a grin at the sight of him. Instead opting to make a show of crossing my arms and looking him up and down with a critic's eye. I shrugged. "Eh." though a smile bloomed on my face as I said it.

He scoffed. "Really? I'd say I'm better then 'eh.'" He drawled, looking down at himself as he took a step toward me.

We both knew he was very, very right. The man looked god sent if I felt like being honest with myself.

I arched a brow, "And I'd say that your ego gives you enough compliments for the both of us." I said even as my eyes trailed along his body shamelessly.

Klaus wore a navy suit, paired with a light blue undershirt and a gray iridescent tie. The soft hues brought out the bluer aspects of his eyes, such a soft color. His hair was styled loosely, his natural curls forcing themselves into sight just as they always did—I liked his curls very much.

"I'm hurt." he frowned, bringing a hand to his chest.

"It's a good thing you have quick healing."

He spared me a knowing look that told me he knew I was deflecting.

With a roll of my eyes, I stared at him again and sighed. "You look perfect." Again I shook my head, "Which is so beyond annoying that I can't even look at you."
