"Hold him steady," Cisco yelled as Barry and I pinned Stein down. The flames still hadn't stopped and none of us had any idea how to stabilise him. We had one last option, and we were praying that it would work.
"He's dropping out." Caitlin read his vitals, as Cisco placed the quantum splicer on the Professors chest. Cisco murmured 'come one, come on'. "Cisco come on we are losing him!"
"Got it!" Cisco announced as the splicer was fitted, and he activated it. Luckily with its placement, the flames died out. "Phew, ay Dios Mio. God."
"He's getting worse," Barry announced. No shit Sherlock. I don't know about you, but I don't think burning white flames is ever good, even if your FIRESTORM.
"Look, I did what I could to reverse engineer Dr Wells' original stabiliser to quell the reaction but I don't know what he used as a power source, the best I could find was from his wheelchair," Cisco said as he gestured for us to follow him out of the med bay.
"And how long will that last" Caitlin asked. Once this battery pack dies, we could have a nuclear catastrophe on our hands.
"Well, that's the problem. We are already used up most of its energy trying to dampen the metas powers during our little rogue air trip with Weather Wizard and company. I think we have a few days. Tops" Well that's reassuring. Why can't we have just, one, normal day? That's all I ask for.
"And he's stuck in bed?" Barry gleefully asked.
"Yeah. When he wakes up, I'm going to transfer the stabiliser to this." He taps this big metal stick. Well, that sounded wrong. "Power cane. Get him moving." The three of us nodded in agreement.
"We have got to find a way to save him."
"We can't let him down after everything he's done for us," I said, staring back at the lifeless professor.
"I think I might know how to do that," Caitlin added, causing all of our eyes to dart at her. "When the particle accelerator exploded, the dark matter that collided with Professor Stein infused with the FIRESTORM matrix and altered the normal molecular processes that occur within his body. Those highly reactive molecules needed something to bond with too to stabilise."
"So this is where Ronnie came in." Cisco inferred.
"Yeah. And now that Ronnie is no longer a part of Professor Stein.." Caitlin worded, you could tell she didn't want to say the other option for putting it.
"Those molecules don't have anything to bond to," Barry stated.
"The longer he goes without merging, the more unstable he becomes." Caitlin showed us a graphic diagram of what was to come and to simply put it: BOOM.
"Uh. Alright, so what do we do?" Cisco clapped, looking at our resident doctor for answers.
"We find another...participant." I narrowed my eyes.
