Henry's body crumpled to the ground, a profound stillness replacing the life that once pulsed within him. Barry's voice grew hoarse, a raw lament that echoed through the room.
"Dad," Barry's desperate plea filled the air, each repetition a heart-wrenching symphony of grief. I stood rooted to the spot, torn between the urge to be near Barry and the instinct to grant him this final moment with his father. Was it my place to intrude on this intimate farewell? "Dad...no...you can't leave me. Not again. Not again."
But as Barry's cries of anguish pierced the silence, I couldn't bear to stay away. I knelt beside him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, a silent promise that he wasn't alone in this pain. His tear-streaked face turned towards mine, a sea of agony in his eyes.
"Sam, he can't leave me," Barry's voice trembled, his grip on his father's body unyielding, as if sheer determination could defy the inexorable pull of death.
I could only watch, my heart shattering for the man I loved, as he poured his heart into those final moments with his father.
"I told you family was a weakness," Zoom's taunting words sliced through the air, an insidious reminder of the cruelty that had brought us to this devastating moment.
Rage surged through me, a fiery force that propelled me towards Zoom. I hurled him across the room, a surge of power coursing through me.
"On what planet would you killing Henry prove any point?" My voice was a torrent of fury. "It's just made me more certain that I'm going to kill you."
Lightning crackled in my eyes, a reflection of the storm raging within me. I phased my hand threateningly before Zoom, daring him to challenge me.
"You both feel the anger, don't you?" Zoom's voice dripped with sadistic satisfaction. "You've already confessed you're going to kill me Sam, and Barry, look at you. But now we are all the same."
Barry surged forward, a blur of motion, taking Zoom down again. His cries of anguish merged with the savage grunts of their struggle.
"There you go Flash! Use your anger!" Zoom's deranged delight was evident in every word. "See Samantha, he's just like me."
They bolted towards the door, a whirlwind of violence and grief. I followed, every step heavy with the weight of what we'd lost, and the unrelenting determination to make Zoom pay.
In the heart of the tempest, the cityscape blurred around us. The three of us darted through the streets, leaving streaks of lightning in their wake. The battle was relentless, a whirlwind of strikes and evasive manoeuvres, with every move echoing the intensity of their shared history.
My heart raced in time with their lightning-quick movements. I hovered behind, caught between the urge to protect Barry and the understanding that he needed to face this alone. Each stride, each deft turn, sent shockwaves of tension through the air. It was a deadly dance, a choreography of pain and vengeance.
Henry's lifeless image lingered in my mind, a stark reminder of the stakes at hand. There was no room for recklessness. Barry needed me, not as a fighter, but as steadfast support, a silent assurance that he wasn't navigating this maelstrom alone.
As the clash surged in intensity, the air seemed to crackle with the fervour of their emotions. Every fibre of my being yearned to intervene, to shoulder some of the burden for Barry. Yet, I held back, recognizing that this was a battle he must wage, a demon he had to confront. In this scenario, Zoom had taken the last bit of Barry's childhood. I had to let him end this.
