Makena sat in her bed reading over a book Wanda had given her about telekinesis. Makena wasn't a master at it but she did have more control over it than she ever did before. Wanda had been a huge help to Makena when they met. Wanda saw a lot of herself in Makena. So she offered plenty of help to the girl.
As Makena flipped through a page her phone went off and it was weird because nobody but a few people had her number. And her number was only for emergencies. Makena sighed and grabbed the phone before answering it. "What is it Steve?"
"Turn on your TV."
Makena frowned in confusion before grabbing the remote and switching on the television. It showed everything happening in New York, where she lived...
"Get dressed, we're on the rooftop," Steve said, before hanging up.
Makena groaned and quickly got dressed in her suit. Shuri had made it for her and it was a little similar to Natasha's but it was completely black but the seaming was purple like how T'Challa's suit would have purple if he was taking hits.
Makena glanced over to her Kimoyo Beads on the dresser and grabbed them. A month after she left Wakanda, she turned them off. Shuri was absolutely furious about that decision but she couldn't do much about it. She and Makena hadn't talked since the night before Makena left. Shuri wasn't happy when Makena announced she was leaving. Shuri wanted Makena to stay but T'Challa was the one to convince Shuri to let Makena leave if she wished.
Ever since then, they hadn't spoken a word to each other. Even though T'Challa, Ayo or Okoye would randomly come by to do checkups on her.
Makena made it to the rooftop and seen Natasha and Steve waiting there for her on the ramp with Sam in the quinjet. "Took you long enough," Natasha mused and Makena rolled her eyes.
"Yeah well I didn't exactly have 'save the world today' on my calendar," Makena shot back playfully.
Natasha smiled and brought Makena into a warm hug. Makena pulled away and she and Steve shared a small hug. Makena and Natasha got closer when Nat asked Makena for help to make sure each of the younger Black Widows had places to stay. And Makena had helped Steve when he needed anything that he couldn't do without getting caught by the government.
