"Thank you." I gave Simon a smile.I hoisted my legs onto the bed, scooting backwards so my back was against the head board. I brung my knees to my chest as i looked up at Simon. He was already looking down at me.
"I don't think i have anything that would fit you for bed.." I trailed off. I had just realized he'd have to sleep in the clothes he was in.
"I'm used to it."
"Wouldn't you rather be comfortable? You're not in the field right now y'know."
Simon kicked off his boots.
"No."
I furrowed my eyebrows at him. Sometimes he was so difficult.
I watched as ghost walked to the side of the bed opposite to me. He slowly climbed into the bed, sitting up straight and turning his head to look at me.
"It okay if i turn off the light?" I asked.
Simon nodded, i reached to the nightstand and flicked off the light to the lamp, leaving the room dark. There was some light coming from the down stairs, dimly lighting parts of the room.
I turned to Simon, who was still looking to me. I turned to lay on my side, propping an arm on a pillow.
"Are you ever gonna sleep tonight?" I asked. His posture made him look like he was on full alert, which he always was.
Simon didn't respond, i could faintly see his eyes still staring at me.
"Whatever. Goodnight, okay." I turned over to face my other side.
I shifted my body until i was comfortable, squeezing my eyes shut. I kept them closed, trying to sleep off the night. I only lasted a few minutes before the intrusive thoughts creeped in my mind. The mix of the tension i could feel in the small distance of me and Simon, and the new thoughts that kept pounding in my head.
"Simon." I whispered.
"Yeah?" I heard from beside me.
"What are we?" I hesitated.
"What's that mean?"
I huffed, flipping over yet again to face Simon.
"What are we?" I repeated. "What's going on between us?"
"I don't know." He spoke quietly, sounding lost with his words.
"I don't want a repeat of Las Alma's." I said.
Simon didn't speak.
"I just want to figure this out between us. I don't want you to push me away again. You know there's something here. Something between us."
"What're you trying to say?" Simons eyes met mine after staring into the darkness from when i was speaking.
"I'm trying to say that..." I struggled to find the right words. "I want us to be something. Or be nothing."
"I don't want to play games, Simon. Can we try and...i don't know, figure out what's between us." I continued.
I glanced around the room, occasionally meeting Simons eyes as i waited for him to speak. He sat quiet for a long time and i wasn't sure if he would even say anything.
"I don't know how to do that." Simon finally spoke. His voice was monotone, i suspected he was trying to hide any emotion from it.
I reached out and placed one of my hands on Simons arm.
"I don't either." I laughed. "I like you Simon. I've told you long before now that i had feelings for you, and i don't think they've gone away."
"I like you too."
I smiled. I knew this was difficult for him, he isn't the person to talk about feelings or be anything but blocked off to the world. Maybe it was crazy that i was even trying to have a relationship with him, but i knew i liked him. I always have.
