Me and Ghost were in an alley way, leaned up against a wall while trying to see if the road was clear. It was night, so there wasn't any civilians outside to see us. However, we kept hearing yelling down the street. A lot of it was in Spanish so i couldn't understand what it was about.
I peeked around the corner, looking down the road next to me. I watched as two soldiers barged into a home, arguing back and forth with the people inside. They looked liked Graves Shadow men.
"Ghost." I whispered. "Look at this."
Ghost came up next to me and looked down the street. I heard gun shots and then a woman screaming. Ghost turned back towards me.
I grabbed my walkie and switched through the channels available. Every one were Shadows giving coms to each other. They were turning on the city.
"They're on a fucking killing spree." I said.
"They're looking for Hassan. And us." Ghost added.
This is insane.
"You see that church over there?" Ghost pointed at a building a couple blocks away.
"What about it?" I asked.
"It should be empty this late." He said. "It would be safer if we headed there then stay on the street."
"How are we supposed to get through with all the Shadows around?"
"We be quick." Ghost eyes met mine.
I pursed my lips and thought for a moment. Staying on the road wasn't safe, the Shadows would come down our alley any second now, we needed to move.
"Let's go." I said.
Me and Ghost quietly walked across the street, doing our best to not be seen by the Shadows who were know breaking into a different house. I heard the screams of a family as they were shot one by one.
"What they're doing is sick." I whispered to Ghost.
He didn't answer, he instead motioned for me to follow up the street. We kept on our toes and did our best to stay silent as we moved.
We rounded a corner of a alley next to the church, expecting it to be clear but a Shadow and his buddy appeared. Ghost was quick to grab one, but not before a knife was lunged in his direction. I took out the second shadow just as Ghost managed to kill his.
I looked at Ghost and noticed he now had a cut in his mask, small but noticeable. There was now blood staining his mask. He was bleeding.
Ghost reached up to mask and felt his wound.
"Bloody hell." He said.
Me and him got inside the church, finding an unlocked window and climbing inside. It was empty, just like Ghost predicted.
"Ghost, you're bleeding." I said, reaching out to feel where his mask was cut. I still couldn't see his face, just a sliver of skin and the mix of blood in between.
"I'm fine." Ghost dodged my hand.
"No, you're not."
Ghost looked at me, seeming annoyed.
"Remember when i got hurt?" I asked. "And i let you help me?"
Ghost laughed. "I didn't give you much of a choice."
"And i'm not giving you much of one either."
Ghost stared at me. He took glances around the room before his eye landed back on me.
"Fine." He sat down on the floor next to a wall in the church.
I sat on my knees next to him. This was the closest i had ever been to him, besides on the ship earlier. But this time i could actually his face- or well, his eyes.
They were a hazel brown, with blonde eyelashes that stood out prominently. His eyes were hooded, and seemed to stare through to your soul. His eyes followed my every movement, never leaving me.
"Um," I swallowed. "It doesn't look too bad."
The cut wasn't deep, surface at best, but i couldn't see with his mask on. It was on the bottom of his cheek, an inch or two under where his cheek bone would be. The cloth of his mask was cut and slightly frayed on the edges. It was small, at the right angle you couldn't tell anything was wrong.I reached out my hand to touch where his mask was cut, but Ghost moved his head before i could.
"I need to see how bad it is." I explained.
Ghost eyes found mine again. They didn't seem cold, they didn't seem distant or unreadable. They had a look of vulnerability in them.
Ghost glanced to my hand before moving his head back to where it originally was.
I watched Ghosts face as i moved my hand to his mask, my fingers finding where it was slit. Ghosts eyes closed for a second when i did. I felt the wet material under my fingers, the blood that was seeping through the cotton of his mask. I still couldn't see much. I needed him to take off his mask, or at least lift it up.
"Ghost..."
"What?" He made eye contact with me again.
"I cant see with your mask on. Can you take it off?"
"No." Ghost started to get off the floor we sat on.
I grabbed his shoulder and tried to push him back down.
"I'm trying to fucking help you here!" I exclaimed. "You don't have to take it off all the way, just enough so that i can see the cut, okay?"
Ghost sighed before sitting back down. He stared at me for a while.
"Please." I whispered.
His eyes went over my whole face as he sat and pondered.
"Fuckin' hell." He muttered.
Ghost started to pull up his mask, taking the black balaclava that ran down to his neck out from under his shirt, slowly sliding it upwards, his eyes on me the whole time. I watched as he uncovered the lower half of his face, just from his chin to the very top of his lips.
My breath hitched. This the most i had ever seen of his face before.
Ghosts eyes started to flicker around the room, like he was struggling to look at me. I paused for a moment as i took in what i was seeing. Ghosts lips were full, and they looked soft. His jawline was sharp and well defined, with some stubble going across it. I tried not to blush. He was handsome.
I took the sleeve of my shirt and started to dab at the cut on his face, it wasn't bad. Like i had said, it was just surface level.
"It doesn't look that bad..." I trailed off. Ghost finally look up at my face.
"Um.." I started. "Do you want me to go see if there's some sort of bandage around here?" I pointed a thumb behind me towards a back room in the church, slowly starting to stand up.
"No-" Ghost quickly grabbed my leg and pulled me back to the ground next to him. "I'm fine."
His eyes trailed my body, i saw him swallow as his gaze came back to my face.
"Then what am i supposed to do now?" I asked. Ghost was acting weird.
"Just.. sit down."
I obliged. I sat down, no longer on my knees, next to Ghost. I shifted until my back was pressed against the wall, my shoulder barely touching Ghosts. We sat in silence for a moment, i played with my fingers in my lap. Ghost turned his head and looked down at what i was doing before leaning his head against the wall, looking up to the ceiling. I looked over at him. I could see his jaw and it's defined nature, the side of his lips, and his adams apple protruding from his neck. He looked good. Really good.
Ghost must've felt my eyes on him because he lowered his head and turned it towards me. We held eyes for a few seconds before my gaze flickered to his lips. God i wanted to kiss him.
Ghosts gaze never left me, he stared deep into my eyes even when they weren't meeting his. The tension between us kept building, and i was seriously debating whether or not to just kiss him.
Fuck it.
Without warning, i leaned over to Ghost and pressed my lips against his.
