Gripping my paper cup. At this rate it's going to crumble between my fingers. This was a birthday party. I wouldn't say I'm apart of the anti-birthday party club but it's the fact that I'm not very fond of who the party is for.Looking around the house it's jam packed. There's enough space to move though and safely get to where you want to go but there's so many people here. When we arrived it had only occurred to me when we where talking to the guy at the entrance, that this was Sophia's party. It was her birthday yesterday apparently.
The reason I found out was because the same guy at the enterence was stopping uninvited guests. Damon wasn't stopped and checked. The guy looked right past him and questioned the person behind us. I guess it would be weird for Damon to not be invited but I hadn't know it was a wildly known knowledge that they where friends.
In my mind I assumed that the party wouldn't have as many people if it was invite only. Obviously I was wrong because I'm seated on the kitchen countertop so I can see over peoples heads. I hadn't assumed I was that short until I came in here. Some people have more friends then they are stars in the sky. Sophia is one of them.
'You seem angry.' I look up from my cup to see Benji standing in front of me. 'You're squeezing the shit outta that cup. You know you can put it down right?'
'Nah.' I hold it tighter. 'I don't put my drinks down. When I'm done with it, only then will I put it to the side.'
'Safety first. Smart girl.' He understands. 'What's up with the angry tone? Where did your other half go?'
'He's over there.' I point to the staircase. 'Talking to the birthday girl. He's so polite.' My tone is harsher than I intended.
'Not a Sophia fan huh?' I wonder how obvious I sounded. 'What happened?'
'She didn't do anything. I just...' my frustrations begin to sound childish. I'd slipped away from Damon on my own accord when I noticed her coming to us. We've never even properly met.
'The jealous girlfriend,' he finishes my thought. Except he doesn't sugarcoat, he says it at it is. 'No shame about it. I'd be jealous too if I'm being honest. Why don't you just talk to him about it instead of watching from the kitchen counter?'
'I did talk to him about it. He offered to drop her.' I sigh but he just looks at me with visible shock.
'As if cut her off completely?' He's stunned.
'Yeah. Why is that so surprising?' His reaction worries me. Was he lying when he made the offer?
'No reason...they're just really close so I'm surprised that he even put that on the table. He must really like you,' I can't help but smile a bit but it's quick to wash away when I look back at him to see him still talking to her.
'Bee. It's not healthy to watch them like that if it's upsetting you.' A little stunned by the nickname he doesn't give me much time to think about it because he's now dragging me to the living room. Eventually he lets go of me and walks around the couch. Landing directly on someone.
