THREE YEARS LATER

-

Wedging myself down the stairs, I make my way to the bottom before bypassing the last seats so I can get to the invitation seating. It's strictly for family, people with a social media presence and sponsors but Damon kept writing me down as his spouse so they'd allow it. I didn't even realize he was doing that until someone I was sat next too, asked me about it.

Usually I go outside for a little bit when I notice a camera on me for more than ten minutes. I always come back though since I wouldn't want to miss Damon's games, especially if he explicitly asks for me to go and that's what he did tonight. There's only a quarter left now anyways.

Sitting down it doesn't take long until someone speaks to me. That doesn't happen often. I've spoken to Damon's team and I promise you that half of them wouldn't know what the word commitment was. Being in a relationship is their kryptonite and I don't judge them for it. It would just be a little less grotesque if they went so objectifying over woman. They play the field both on and off court because they're so many girls who would drop for a known ball player. It's almost a fetish.

So it's never anyone from the team who I'm sat with. I don't think I've directly seen their family come in and when they do they usually purchase their own seats. So the only people who are left are sponsors or influencers. Shocking enough influencers aren't nearly as nice in person as they are online, I tried speaking to one once and I was brutally ignored. Same with the sponsors. Except their much nicer once it occurs to them who I am since their money is mainly sourced from how much the players like them. It's hard to like someone who's a jerk to your girlfriend I guess, so I like to keep to myself at these things.

'You're with Damon right? I think I saw something about you online,' turning my head to see a slightly blonde girl. She's gorgeous though I couldn't tell you how old she was. Definitely on the younger side, but her energy is so mature.

'I bet it wasn't positive,' I laugh under my breath but I'm not joking. All my social media accounts are private and I'm not one to put myself out there. I'm comfortable where I am but people can't just leave me alone. 'He's a bit of a fan favorite,'

'It's clear that he is,' she waves her hand over to the other side of the court. Looking over to what she's directing towards I tilt my head when it becomes clear that Damon's arguing with his coach. Gripping his sides he's obviously tired. 'Coach Marshall made him the point guard for the first quarter then moved him to center for the previous two. The other team is good. You can tell they have more experience so it's a little low for Marshall to do that to him since he hasn't been playing for that long. Especially since we have players who know how to ground themselves better,'

The two of them look over to the other team as they move onto the court. Watching coach signal for him to go, he does the opposite before turning towards the bench. Tapping someone else to go in on his behalf, I laugh under my breath. He's so stubborn.
