After listening in on Aether and Tighnari's conversation about him having to stay due to danger protocols and blah blah blah, (Y/N) continued to stay snuggled in Collei's arms while she and the travelling duo headed out to.. what was it? Oh yeah! Go on patrol and clean the Statue of the Seven-

With the checking of the path lamps done, they eventually reached the Statue of the Seven.

'It really feels like I have my own personal taxi! Though- I hope I'm not being such a burden for Collei, but looks like she enjoys holding onto something. Doesn't that relate to something psycholo-'

''It's pretty high up there, isn't it?'' (Y/N) paused their inner monologue and glanced upwards, just about spotting the peak of the statue.

The rock formation looks even taller with (Y/N)'s disadvantaged height, which made them sulk internally; they sure miss their average height back in their world.

Suddenly, a familiar machine whirring in the background was heard- (Y/N) glanced at the others but they didn't seem to say a word about this loud machinery hammering away at the fungi's eardrums (did they even have eardrums?). Instead, it seemed like they were more concerned with (Y/N): stuffing their faces close to the fungi-

'Why do you guys look so worri-'

''Are you okay?! Collei, it's losing its colour! What's happening?!''

Oh. Are they dying right now? Really. Just when-

''Leave.''

'Excuse me-'

''Leave.''

(Y/N), in their dizzy haze, peered through the panicking ranger and travelers as they stared at the source of the commanding voice: the Statue of the Seven. Not even a second later, a black mist swarmed their vision completely.

''Master! Quick!''

'Did death always feel like that? It isn't so bad, I guess-'

▷ [ Host! I am so glad you're alright! (o'▽'o) ]

The fungi immediately glared at the blue menu screen that popped up in front of them. The two were back in the endless void but (Y/N)'s fungi body remained intact. Lovely, they were still alive.

'And where the fuck were you? When I was-'

▷ [ This system was on standby due to some technical issues! It started going all fuzzy as soon as you went near that statue I swear! (」°ロ°)」]

The system continued rambling on with its explanation, while (Y/N) was convinced at this point. After all, it was never a quiet moment when something decided to fuck up when things started going smoothly: be it system or plot-wise.
