The last memory Emily has of her half-brothers was back in 1864. Up to this day she remembers every single detail, the agony on their faces as they ran after the carriage that was leading her and their so called lover, Katherine to their death sentence; a tomb full of starving vampires who would do anything for a drop of human blood.
Emily knew the moment she'd enter that tomb she'd be as good as dead, she was outstreghned, outpowered, she was weak. What chance did a fourteen year old untrained witch have against centuries old vampires?
She was shaking, terrified of what was to come. Katherine was looking straight at her when the door opened, it was her brother, Damon. He tried getting her out, she was surprised he didn't save Katherine first-not that it mattered considering would have failed either way. A gunshot was heard, it hit him, her brother got shot right in front of her, then another one was heard, this time it hit Stefan.
Her eyes filled with tears as she watched her own brothers die because they tried saving her, because of her.
When they arrived at the tomb, she saw Katherine compelling someone and then walking up to her. She instructed Emily to follow her, she didn't dare hesitate.
They stopped in the middle of the woods. John Lockwood was waiting for them there with a carriage. Katherine handed something to him and told Emily to get in the carriage. She obeyed, the three hundred year old deadly vampire joined her soon and they took off.
That was the last time Emily ever saw her birth town, until now that is, 145 years later she's back in Mystic Falls, but this time she's not that vulnerable little witch who barely knows how to use magic, no, she's stronger, more powerfull, she's got more knowledge, she's a heretic-a witch, a vampire and a siphoner.
Katherine stands behind her doppelgänger as she turns around and Katherine vamps to another corner of the house, she repeats the same process a few times before vamping outside of the house and next to her friend, the smirk on her face widens as they both vamp to their apartment and walk inside.
"I can't wait for Damon to find out he kissed you and not sweet, little, loyal Elena." Emily smirks. "Oh, yeah he'll be in for a surprise, won't he?" Katherine smirks while grabbing a blood bag and emptying it in a few seconds. "Want one?" She asks while wiping the blood off her mouth.
The redhead shakes her head and gets up walking towards the counter beneath the sink, grabbing a bottle of bourbon and pouring some in two glasses, she grabs one and holds it out to the curly haired doppelganger. "Come on Kath, a performance like that should be celebrated, don't you think?" Emily says as Katherine takes it and Emily takes the one from the counter. "To your freedom." The heretic raises the glass. "To my freedom." Katherine raises her glass too and they both drink.
By the time Emily's friend finishes her drink, she has already finished hers. "Emily?" Katherine turns to her friend. "Do you think our plan will work?" She asks. "If my brothers don't get in the way of it, you'll have your freedom by the full moon this month, don't worry." Her friend assures her. "And if they do get in the way, then what?" She asks. "Then we'll simply have to get rid of them, whether that means killing them or locking them up somewhere. I've told you, I won't let anyone stop us from getting your freedom." Emily replied. "Let's go to sleep, we can have some fun with Stefan tomorrow." Katherine smirks and she nods.

When Emily wakes up the next morning she heads to Katherine's room only to find a note saying that she'll be back before noon. The seventeen-year-old looking heretic rolls her eyes and vamps to the kitchen, grabbing a blood bag from the fridge and drinking the blood in it before throwing the plastic in the trash.
