His mom hates me.

Like really hates me.

Won't shake my hands, hates me.

Snide remarks hate me.

Unhappy her son is dating a black girl, hates me.

When Somchai finally agreed to let me meet his parents, he did warn me and gave me soo many chances to change my mind - even when he was putting the codes in at the gate. He was stressed the whole time and he was so unhappy with all of this... I really thought he was being dramatic.

But he was right... he was protecting me.

"Mom, can I please speak to you in the kitchen?" Somchai gave me a secret squeeze before leading his mom away, probably to ask her to speak in a language I can understand too... and to finally look at me and address me.

"My son is smitten with you, it's very nice to meet you Nayla," Somchai's dad offered giving me a gentle smile, "I know my wife can be a lot but, I'll talk to her about this. She can be very... intense."

I was so thankful for Somchai's dad, he was such a gentle giant and I can see where Chai gets his calm and gentle demeanour from.

Thank god because Imma about to flip this house upside down over that bitch.

...

"So... Nala was it?" without even giving me a change to answer she continued, "what kind of family did you grow up with?"

"Mo-"

"My mum was a single mother and I was an only child. I had quite a happy childhood and I am very close to my mum - she raised me to be a hard worker."

I already know where we going.

"You people are always from single-parent households, just broken families and children raising themselves I presume. It's a shame."

Cut the cameras... deadass.

"Minjun, I think that's inappropriate."

You get emm, get emm again Daddy Kim Sr.

"Mom, I think Nayla deserves an apology or I'm getting up and not speaking to you until you do."

Ohhh Daddy Kim Jr getting her togethaaa.

"You want to test your mother Somchai," she started calmly, "over a black girl who just wants your money? She's got eyes, she can see what you come from and she wants this... you're her meal ticket and I won't allow it."

"Minjun, stop."

"Mrs Kim, if that is the impression I have given you that is wrong, I want Somchai for who he is, what he has in his bank account is not why I want to be with him."

She aint trynna be no gold digger but, she ain't messing with no-

"Honey," she started condescendingly, "I have met your type-"

"Mrs Kim, you have not met my type because I am the future Mrs Kim and I'm sure I'm the first one he has brought home so, mother-in-law, I hope that as well as last names, we can share a healthy relationship... for the future kiddos too."

I am a petty ass bitch don't try it.

I could see Somchai give me that smile from the corners of his eyes.

Yeah he finna tear it up tonight...

"Listen he-"

"Minju, that is enough and Nayla is right," Mr Kim started, with a tone that demanded respect although he did not raise his voice. "Nayla is the girl Somchai wants to marry, let's not act as if Somchai brought her so we can stare at her. I think for the well-being of the family, you should start getting along with Nayla right now and work on welcoming her to the family. Next gathering I want you, Nayla and Somchai getting along, are we all clear, family?"

If looks could kill, Mr Kim would have been ten feet underground and maybe two more just because. She looked like she was gonna murder him and the look she gave me... yeah, I knew from that moment that Mrs Kim and I would have a hard time.

But, my mum didn't raise a bitch so I gave her the brightest smile I could muster, I was not going anywhere.

Meet the Browns, bitch.
