Scary

"Are you scary?" Aurora asked, Bucky looked at her with a growing smile, he looked away for a moment and chuckled quietly.

"Am I scary?" He repeated, watching Aurora's face grow a smile, she nodded and brought her knees to her chest, waiting for Bucky to say something.

"I've never seen 'The Winter Soldier' I've only seen you, the guy who thinks his name is Bucky and was my fiance in a past life. I haven't seen the dark and scary soldier, I've only seen the man that has been tortured and altered to fit the egos of very sick men. Because I am around, you're human, they don't like that and so I haven't seen dark and scary Winter Soldier."

"I am scary, If you didn't own my mind, then you would be frightened and I can see the fear, I know the fear you will have on your face and that scares the human in me." Aurora nodded, putting her focus on his arm, she had never really noticed it before and she gave him a small smile.

"I've never noticed your arm before, I noticed your eyes first, I can see past the emotionless eyes and I can see the broken eyes that you have. I notice that when you're around me, you still act the way they want you to act and yet you act like a man that will look after me when I need it." Bucky stared at the hunk of metal, she was right, he never did notice her staring at it or looking at him fearfully.

"How old are you?" Bucky whispered, she looked at her hand, took a breath and hummed to get her mind off the wave of pain that lurked over her.

"21." Aurora buried her face in her knees, she took a shaky breath, freezing as she felt an arm pull her closer. Bucky made sure to keep his metal arm away from her, he watched as the brunette curled into his side, Bucky hesitantly began rubbing her side and whispered gentle words to help ease off the pain she was feeling.

Bucky knew that they would be left alone tonight, they weren't being picked up until early the next morning and so he could feel normal again for even the briefest of periods. Aurora hummed as he brought her closer giving her more of a half hug rather than just keeping her against his side.

"Is this uncomfortable for you?" Bucky questioned, the girl shook her head, finding the comfort enjoyable.

"You're the first person that's touched me that hasn't had the intent of torturing me in months. I miss nice physical touch, I miss having the idea of someone caring for me." Aurora whispered, smiling as he rested his hand on her head, Bucky eased his way into stroking her hair and took a quick breath, nervous all of a sudden as he thought of the next question.

"You've never been in a relationship?" He felt even worse, beyond worse than he already felt, this wasn't okay... it already wasn't okay but this made him feel worse.

"Not in this lifetime. I've never been kissed, I've never had sex, no guy has ever found me attractive or loved me and I've always just been that girl. The girl that no guy has wanted to touch, the girl that guys just look at and think to take advantage of because I don't know what I am doing and they think that they can use me. I've never been romantically loved. I- I don't - I don't even think guys find me attractive! They sure as hell... won't find me attractive now... if I ever get out of here."

Aurora stopped talking for a moment, unsure of what to do and what to say, Bucky listened it seemed to be the best thing to do and she just needs someone to hear her out which is his job and maybe his job for a very long time.

"And that's pretty fucking depressing, isn't it?" Bucky carefully pushed the girl out of his arms, walking away from the broken look and started preparing dinner. Aurora didn't think much of it, the brunette girl grabbed a blanket, wrapped it around herself and sat in the dark to ignore the things in her mind.

"Dinner's ready," Bucky stated gently, trying to distance himself so the girl wouldn't need to suffer any more than she already did. Aurora nodded, placing the blanket down and stood up to eat whatever he had to make. They both ate in silence, not looking at each other, not saying anything and just having a moment for themselves.

"Thanks for the food." Bucky nodded, Aurora cleaned up with the assistance of Bucky, and for a moment the girl let her mental wall down and everything came rushing towards her. The girl glanced at her hands, she watched as her hands started shaking, feeling Bucky's gaze as she quickly dried her hands and started walking off only for Bucky to chase after her.

"Aurora, what's happening?"

"It's nothing, I'm fine." The girl denied, huffing as Bucky placed her against the wall, she stared at his human-like hand that rested on her shoulder to keep her against the wall. The girl gritted her teeth, trying her best to hide her tears, Bucky watched her hold her shaking hands together and avoid meeting his eyes. He didn't understand what was happening at first, yet as soon as he saw the quick breathing and distant look he realised the situation she was in.

"You're not fine. You're having a panic attack. Tell me what to do."

"Talk at me. Tell me something."

Bucky searched his mind for something to say, something appropriate to say to the girl, something that wouldn't scare her or change her mind about anything that she already believed.

"The day before you treated me for the first time, I had a dream about you... it wasn't 1940s you. It was now you, I had a dream about you, and it showed you in a hospital and it was a proper one. I don't know what happened, but you were either engaged or married. You were happy, you were asking for me, I'm guessing that at some point we both get out of here and get together again or something." Aurora calmed down, she stared at him with a solemn look and nodded, needing to believe that it was true.

An hour or two after the panic attack Aurora encountered, she found herself arguing with Bucky in the bedroom about the bed, this man hadn't stopped showing kindness and hadn't stopped not being the man Hydra made him but both knew it wouldn't last. It wasn't something that would be a place for the two to escape from each other forever while they were both stuck in this hell hole. Bucky lost hope of escaping, mainly because until the girl came back into his life, he was the robotic killer.

"I'm not kidding Aurora, take the bed." The girl shook her head, not wanting to allow herself to feel comfort, Bucky groaned and watched her defiance to want to take the bed.

"Bucky you've been here longer, take the bed. You haven't had any comfort."

"And I won't for a very long time after that."

Aurora stared at him confused, not understanding what he meant or the look in his eyes. Bucky clenched his jaw as if he was arguing with something in his head, the girl watched patiently waiting for something to be said or done.

"What do you mean?" Bucky stared back at her, scoffing at the fact that they didn't tell her.

"I can't age, they gave me something so I can't age, how do you think this was working?"

"I don't know, it never really crossed my mind." She confessed, looking down as embarrassment crossed her face, Bucky took a step closer and took a breath.

"Just take the bed." He walked out of the room and closed the door behind him, Aurora sighed as she placed herself on the bed and tried to get some sleep.
