Aurora walked with Natasha and Steve undercover into the Apple store, she hid her panic as she felt suffocated by the amounts of people at the mall, she felt trapped in the open space for the first time in ages and didn't know how to feel knowing that someone would always be out to get her, these current circumstances didn't help at all.
"The drive has a level 6 honing program so as soon as we boot up S.H.I.E.L.D. will know exactly where we are."
"I hate you all, I didn't agree to be tracked and hunted down, I've been there for the last four years I don't want to do it again," Aurora mumbled, sighing as Steve gave her a look of comfort but otherwise turned to Natasha.
"How much time will we have?"
"About nine minutes from now."
Aurora felt lost from the information Natasha was sharing, she clearly didn't know anything about what they were actually doing and placed herself on surveillance, she used her powers to read the thoughts of anyone suspicious and frowned upon hearing some of the thoughts of the people chasing after them.
"We've got company..." Aurora glanced at the place on the computer, she swallowed a lump in her throat and shared a look with Steve.
"Standard tac team. Two behind. Two across. Two coming straight at us, if they make us, I'll engage, you hit the south escalator to the metro."
"Shut up and put your arm around me. Laugh at something that I said." Steve did as asked, glancing back once they found that they were fine. Aurora smirked as Natasha looked back at her, wondering why there was suddenly a middle-aged lady following them.
"Still me, I'm just changing the way you perceive me." Aurora stood on the escalator behind the two and snorted as they started kissing. Following them down to the car as they started making their way to New Jersey.
"I hope you know that as soon as this is done I'm not seeing either one of you again. I don't like being out in the open, first time I've been out in the last eight months since I escaped."
"You need to get used to being out in the world again, it's tough after something like that happens but you need to push yourself otherwise you will not have a life ever again and your sister needs you to have one so you can have one."
Aurora sat back, closing her eyes as she thought back on the last few years, how she wished she was still in the secret apartment but it felt good to see someone she knew again, despite being a different version of herself that Steve knew.
"Where did Captain America learn how to steal a car?"
"Nazi Germany. And we're burrowing. Take your feet off the dash." Aurora blocked out the conversation, she didn't care to hear about his love life of Steve and the kiss the two in front shared.
Aurora felt her heart clench seeing the old army training centre, she was there a few times with Peggy as Steve tried to be in the army before he gained his 'powers' she knew more and more about the life that she shared with Bucky and Steve, it was coming in large waves and she didn't know what to do with half the information anymore.
"This is for you." Steve handed her a small box, she stared at him for a moment before opening the velvet box, she let out a light chuckle seeing the objects, she picked the rings up and let out a small smile seeing the little marks that time had given them.
"Do you remember Bucky?" Steve watched her reaction, she bit the inside of her cheek and swallowed hard as the tears became impossible to deny and as the lump formed in her throat as she let out weak sobs and carefully placed the rings down before staring at the locket.
"He's always on my mind," Aurora whispered, staring at the two rings and the locket that he gave to her all those years ago, she felt the tears welling in her eyes as she opened the locket and let out a sad chuckle seeing the photos of Bucky and herself. Her eyes trailed on Bucky for a few moments, she wished that this man didn't go through what he through, the light in his eyes was beyond gone and she wished that he was still this carefree soul.
"I miss him and I know you do too," Aurora stated, placing on a smile to get rid of the pain that fiddled her chest and the shaky feeling that filled her limbs. Aurora held the locket close to her heart, using it as a way to hold Bucky closer to her and feel as if she was hugging him and that he was near her.
She placed the necklace on, placed the box in her pocket, turned to the two and made a face ready to continue with their mission. Aurora flashed back to memories of talking with Peggy, she took a breath and shook away the thoughts.
"Can we get this over with, now please?" Aurora questioned, the two nodded and started walking towards one of the old buildings. They made their way to a little shelter after Steve acknowledged something that he had learnt while serving his time.
They broke into the building, making it to a room filled with lights and the S.H.I.E.l.D logo plastered on the walls, the feeling of doubt and worry filled her almost instantly. Aurora kept her guard up, she followed the two around and chuckled seeing her photo plastered beside Peggy's, she figured that the SSR became S.H.I.E.l.D after the comment Natasha made, the brunette grabbed her photo out of the frame and placed it in her pocket.
Aurora chuckled as Steve pulled open a bookshelf, the elevator was way too modern for her liking, this was new and recent. The trio walked into the dark room, their eyes having yet to adjust as they saw twinkling lights in a cluster in front of them.
With a click the lights switched on, Aurora took a breath as she stared at the computing system, and shared a look with Steve as they both seemed to realise something.
"This can't be the data point. This technology is ancient."
"That's not." Aurora pointed out, showing her the modern USB holder that matched the style of the one they were using to gain more information. Aurora's panic grew as the machines started spinning around, turning on and powering the things that connected to whatever the USB holder was powering.
