I hold a glass of scotch in my hand watching it swirl around. My friend is talking to me but I can't hear him. Ever since I saw her on the pier I couldn't stop thinking about her. I know something is very very wrong going on in her life. I don't know what it is about her but she grasps my attention like nothing I've ever seen before.
"Man, are you even listening to me?" I hear Liam ask. I tilt my head up to look at him as he furrows his brows. "What's got you like this? You're all spacy and out of it." He tells me like I don't already know that.
"Talk to me, what's going on?" He asks sipping his drink. I look back down at my drink tapping my foot against the marble floor. I look back up to see him studying me intently.
"Nothing."
"Dude you need to tell me, whatever got you like this is obviously affecting you."
"I saw this girl," the words slip out of my mouth. A look of confusion slaps him in the face as he tilts his head waiting for me to go on.
"She was; well, I found her on the ledge of the pier about to jump. She looked so calm as if what she was doing was an everyday occurrence. I pulled her off but man, her eyes, t-they were mesmerizing. I don't know how to explain it. They looked so deep and hurt but also so full of life. I met her for coffee the next day to see how she was doing and she's so unironically hilarious and so so beautiful.
Then I saw her a couple of days after in the bookstore, I offered to take her home. It was raining outside and I guess some of her makeup washed off because there was this giant bruise next to her eye. I don't know what's happing to her but I need to find out, and I need to find out what's happening to me because it's almost impossible to read her. She's like the cover of a blank book" I finish.
"Well damn." What the fuck's that supposed to mean? "I've never seen you this caught up on a girl before," He chuckles slightly. "Is that all you got out of that?" I furrow my brows together. He shrugs his shoulders.
Oh so now you don't want to talk? Can never seem to shut your goddamn mouth and the one time I want you to open it you don't? This is bullshit.

It's been a week since seeing Zane and getting into a fight with Will. The whole week has gone by in a tangible blur. I've been walking on eggshells, no more like glass shards when I'm home. Literally. This past week has been rough and draining.
He's gotten worse and I don't know what to do.
It's 2 AM and I can't go to sleep. I've only been able to sleep a little over three hours each night since Will said he was going to kill me. I've tried to keep my distance but he always wants something.
Last night after my shift from work he said he would beat me if I didn't have sex with him. So I did. But what hurt even worse is he moaned another woman's name as we were doing it. I felt my heart shatter when he said that name.
Amelia.
Such a pretty name. I probably misheard him or am over-exaggerating the situation. Yup, I misheard him. That's it... yup.
But he didn't even let me finish, he came and then left. Literally. But it's not a big deal I finished myself off with my trusty fingers.
I should get a vibrator.
I look over to Will as he snores. I slowly climb out of bed and then get my jacket and shoes on. I slip outside unnoticed and make my way to the pier. I hold my kubaton in hand. I'm not trying to get kidnapped out here. A kubaton kinda looks like a butt plug if I'm being honest.
Mine is a sharp black one with a keychain holder at the end. I take this bad boy everywhere. I've never had to use it though. Knock on wood. I quickly knock on my head. Thank god.
I luckily make it to the pier in one piece and sit on a bench watching the water under the pier.
I smile as I see a small fish jump out of the water and flop around in the air then dive back in. I giggle thinking about the fish flopping around mid-air. I rest my elbows on the railing and put my cheek to my hands where my bruise used to be.
I looked up how to get rid of a bruise faster and I tried almost everything. A cool compress, toothpaste, vaseline, elevation, and so much more. But ultimately it went away. I got so sick of putting on a shit load of makeup every time I wanted to go out. But I did get kinda hooked on mascara.
The cuts behind my ear are still healing but they have scabbed over. I keep picking at them so it's taking a lot longer to heal than normal.
I look up as I hear heavy steps coming toward me. It's a black figure walking towards me. I can't get a good look at his or her face as it's so dark.
