After Leah sat and did a lot of necessary thinking, she picked up her phone and called her mother.
"Hello," she answered in a sleepy tone.
"Mommy," she sniffled and cried.
"What's wrong?"
"Can you come and get me, please?" She sniffled, "I can't do this anymore, Mommy." She began crying hard.
"Leah, this is marriage. There will be fights, and you all will say hurtful things to each other, then get over it." She exclaimed, irritated.
"Mom, he put his hand on me. We aren't arguing anymore. We're physically fighting. He beats me almost daily, and I'm carrying his child. Mom, I can't do this anymore ."
"That is your husband. Work it out!" She exclaimed
"But Mom-"
"No, work it out with your husband for the sake of your child," her mom said before hanging up.
Leah sat in silence, then bawled. Then, she got herself together, put the phone back in her cardigan sleeve, and walked back into the house.
"Where have you been?" Michael said, putting out his blunt.
"I just wanted some air," Leah said dryly, walking past him.
"Don't walk away from me. Especially while I'm talking to you." He said, grabbing her arm hard, making the phone fall out of her sleeve." Who'd you call?" he asked in a very stern tone.
"Nobody," she said, snatching her arm back.
"Girl, don't play with me," Michael said, grabbing her arm again. "Who was on the phone?" He said, gripping her arm tightly.
"Somebody I should've married instead of your no-good-for-nothing stupid self." She said, snatching her arm back once again
"Girl, nobody wants you but me. Matter fact, I'm the only person that can have you, so you'd be better off letting that dream die," he said, looking down at her, having her backed into the wall.
"I should've married somebody who has enough strength and sense not to go around cheating, lying, and putting his hands on me just because he feels like it. I was better off dating Marcus' simple self than being with you, as a matter of fact, anybody is better than you!" she yelled, pushing him.
Michael chuckled and snatched her by her neck. "I'll end your life right here. Don't you ever. Disrespect me like that again," he said, gripping her neck tighter.
Leah started punching his arms, trying to grasp for air. Michael finally let go, and she fell to the floor.
"I hate you, Michael." She said between coughs. "This'll be the last time you put your hands on me," she said, rushing into their room.
"What are you gonna do about it?" he asked, following her.
Leah grabbed a suitcase and started packing her things. "I'm pregnant! With your child! And you decide to hurt me. You're a coward, I hate you!" she exclaimed. "I hate you, and I wish I had never met you! I wish I could go back and tell myself no, not him," she said, rushing things into her suitcase. "I don't even know why I chose you," She closed her suitcase and glanced at Michael before he stormed over to her.
Michael punched her in the face, causing Leah to wake with a start.
"STOP!" she yelled, gasping for air. Lucas popped up."You're okay, baby; I'm here. I'm right here," Lucas said, holding her and rubbing her back. Leah cried and started shaking.
"I haven't had a night terror in a while," she sniffled.
"What happened?" Lucas asked.
"It was like a flashback. Michael and I were arguing, and I was about 3months pregnant with Marcus, and I was saying things to him I shouldn't have said, and he punched me in my face. It was a dream, but it felt so real," she said, crying on his chest.
