August always full of surprises informed me last minute of some party that was going down as soon as we left his mom's house. I had planned to go home take a shower and go to sleep but now here I was rummaging through my closet trying to find something decent to wear. . Since it was just a house party I decided to keep it simple. A white tank and some cut off shorts and my white wedge converse.
After picking out an outfit I walked out of my room and ran into my mom just as she was headed towards the front door, purse in hand.
"Hi," I smiled at her moving out her way.
"Hello," she said not to enthusiastically and walked past me and didn't say nothing else. She just opened up the front door and closed it behind her. It was a shame that it's come down to this. I used to get tired of her butting in with my life and now I cant even get her to say more than three words to me. Putting it aside for now I decided to preparing to get ready.
Close to four hours later I was all dressed and putting the finishing touches on my hair. I didn't plan on straightening it but I finished I was all done and just in time.
I grabbed everything I would need and left the house not bothering to tell my mom I was leaving because I knew I wouldn't get a response. I pulled out my phone and waited in my usual spot because as usual he was late. Five minutes into texting Julianna his car pulled up and I stood up and walked over getting in the car, closing the door after me.
"You are the slowest nigga on the planet."
"Hello to you to."
I ignored him and waited for him to drive but glanced over at him when he didn't pull off.
He moved his hand to touch my hair but I dodged him.
"Don't touch."
"I can touch whatever I want."
"No you cant."
"Get out then," he motioned towards the door and I sat back in my seat and crossed my arms over my chest looking at him unfazed.
He shook his head and soon started to drive to wherever this party was. In the car we made small talk and about thirty minutes later we were pulling up to a brownstone downtown with people filing in and out the front door with people hanging out on the front porch and steps.
Finding somewhere to park on the busy street we were soon getting out of his car. Walking over to join August he held out his hand as we walked across the street and up to the house.
"So who's party is this," I asked looking over at him.
"A friend of ours."
"And when you say ours you mean...."
"Me and D. Trey moved away to Cali about three years ago and comes down from time to time every once in a while. He was like a big bro to me and D growing up."
I nodded just hoping that whoever this Trey guy was he was cool. We walked up to the house and motioned for me to walked in front of him. The guys on the steps acknowledged him calling in Yung, and though I knew of his so called street name it was funny seeing people call him by it.
"Who's this," one guy of the guys asked looking me up and down.
"No one that concerns you," August answered putting a hand on the small of my back and led me inside the house. The music was blasting so I figured that the party was jumping but walking in there wasn't a lot of people like expected. When we walked in August took a hold of my hand as we walked through the house. The house looked like a bachelor pad, to the right was what looked to be a lounge type area, with a bar, in the living room there were couches and a huge flat screen and sound system, walking down the hall there were several closed doors and then there was the kitchen. Through out the house there was people chilling out and socializing and as we walked through August stopped to talk to a few, not letting go of my hand.
