The next day was a Saturday and all day long I was nervous. I still didn't know what exactly I was going to say to him so I told myself I would be honest and hoped that he would hear me out. I spent the hours before looking through my closet trying to find something to wear and the rest of the time getting ready.
All to soon Julianna texted me telling me she was here so I quickly grabbed my purse making sure I had everything I needed and left the house. My mom wasn't home so I didn't have to worry about telling her where I was going, not that it was really any of her business. I decided once I got things right with August I would have my sit down with her but for now all of my attention was on August. Getting in the car I smiled at Julianna and she smiled back at me.
"Ready to get your boyfriend back," she asked.
"Yes," I spoke confidently but I was anything but.
The whole ride there I was quiet as a mouse and the closer we got to our destination the more nervous I became. Twenty minutes later we were pulling up to a fancy community center and I spotted his car right off the back, it wasn't hard to miss. I made no move to get out of the car once Julianna turned the car off and she sighed and turned to face me.
"Everything is going to be fine Kash, just go in and talk to him."
I nodded and made my way out of the car, walking slowly towards the building, there was no need to rush plus I needed to get my nerves in order. I followed behind Julianna and inside we followed the signs that led us to the indoor basketball courts. We could hear them before we could see them, only voice I could make out clearly was D's, he was trash talking somebody. Figures.
The closer we got the more I slowed down and Julianna had to look back and grab my arm to pull me along. Getting to the doors we peaked in the windows and I spotted August almost immediately. Someone passed him the ball and he dribbled and made his way down the court.
"C'mon," Julianna opened the door and I walked in keeping my eyes on him. He made his way to the basket and made his shot and it went in. D boasted and they dapped up each other and then the door slammed behind us. I turned to look at it and looked at Julianna who gave me an apologetic look.
"Sorry," she smiled sweetly. I turned back around and all eyes were on us. Making eye contact with August was awkward to say the least, especially since it seemed like all eyes were on us.
"There goes my baby," D sang and I watched as he jogged his way over to us and once he reached us Julianna handed him a Gatorade out of her tote bag and he thanked her by kissing her and I sucked my teeth at them sucking face a few inches from me. I took a step away from them and glanced back at the court, since D called a time out everyone left the court and instead of coming over August sat down on the bench.
"Kashmere?" He said my name like he was surprised to see me, "What are you doin' here?"
It wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't so over the top.
I couldn't help but smile at him, "Hi Dorian..," I dragged out his to be funny knowing that he wasn't fond of it just like I wasn't really fond of mine.
"Long time no see," he ruffled my hair and I punched him in his arm. He jumped back from me after that.
"Asshole," I fixed my hair.
"Damn you hit harder than a nigga," he rubbed his arm and turned to Julianna, "You not going to get yo' friend, defend my honor?"
"Your okay," she waved him off and he sucked his teeth while I laughed and stuck my tongue out at him.
Feeling eyes on me I glanced over my shoulder and just as I did he focused his attention elsewhere and started talking to one of the guys he was playing with.
