That night I didn't get any sleep at all. After August's drunken rant I laid down my mind going 100mph. Instead of being overjoyed I was overwhelmed and not in a good way. A month ago I would been ecstatic to hear him say that but now I didn't know how to feel. For some reason I felt like things were moving to fast, and I wanted to slow things down a bit. I'm sure with me being in school now, I would get my wish.
Waking up I rolled over expecting to see August but sitting on his side of the bed, was a box, purple wrapping paper and bow. Sitting up slowly I looked the box over before simply spotting my name on the tag. What the hell is this and where is August.
I just stared at the box wondering what I was going to find inside.
"You gonna stare at it or you gonna open it?"
I looked up at him as he leaned in the doorway arms crossed.
"Depends, what's inside?"
"Open it and see."
I sighed before pulling the box on my lap and starting to take the paper off slowly. How slow I was doing was working his nerve and I could tell. When I was done I was kind of shocked at what I saw.
"You got me a I-pad?"
"I figure I buy you something you could use. You can put text books on it so they say and write notes, take pictures, whatever. Plus I got you a case with a keyboard and a gift card."
I smiled, "This is a gift I can actually use, so thank you."
He nodded, "I made breakfast to."
"You mean you went out and bought breakfast."
"No, I cooked."
I smiled getting out of bed, "I have to see this."
After getting out of bed and washing my face and brushing my teeth I walked out of the room and into the kitchen. He wasn't lying about cooking there were dirty dishes all in the sink and food on the counter.
"Sit."
I sat down and he sat my plate in front of me and I side eyed him. He sat down and I couldn't help but smile and he looked at me like I was crazy.
"What?"
"I wake up to a gift, you cooked for me, I feel special."
"I got that I-pad for my birthday yesterday but I aint finna use it so I decided to give it to you, and I cooked for myself but since you were here I figured the gentleman thing to do was make enough for you."
I looked at him my smile fading away and the way he was looking at me I was starting to think that was he said was true. Just as I was about to ask if he was serious he laughed.
"I'm joking."
I rolled my eyes at him, "You're an asshole."
"I know."
I only spent about an hour over his house before I decided to go home. He didn't speak on what he said last night and that didn't surprise me. He was drunk so he probably didn't remember and if he did remember then he didn't bring it up and I wasn't going to either. Things between us were the usual all morning and that's how I wanted them to stay.

I had other things to worry about this week and the major one was school. I didn't realize how nervous I was until the morning of.
Dressing down in some skinny jeans, tank top and sneakers I decided to leave my hair out and head off to school. Surprisingly my mom wished me luck this morning before I left and that wasn't the only weird thing to happen today. Picked up Julianna and we went our separate way agreeing to meet up at 1 when our classes were over.
