indigo's pov
i woke up the next morning with dried tears on my cheeks. i must've passed out while crying.
i couldn't do this. this wasn't going to work with mom and luke living under the same roof.
i needed to get a job and help out.
i grabbed my laptop and began to search for jobs near by. i ended up finding a job as a waitress, cashier, and barista.
i finished the applications of the jobs quickly before standing up and getting ready for the day.
if mom wasn't going to try and work then i'll do it for her.
i changed into jeans and a baggy t-shirt and braided my hair.
i walked downstairs to see luke and calum laying on the couch.
i quietly walked past them into the kitchen to see ashton drinking coffee.
"hey babe, do you want any?" he offered with a smile.
"nope. i'm okay. thank you though." i smiled back softly.
he nodded softly and began to walk away.
"wait ash, i have a question." i spoke softly.
"of course." ashton spoke as he sat down next to me.
"would it be wrong if i applied for a job to help my mom out?" i asked quickly.
"um, no not wrong, but did you ask your mom first?" ashton asked softly.
"no, but i did apply. i don't think it's a good idea to keep luke and my mom under the same roof." i whispered.
"speaking of that issue, we are having a family meeting later this afternoon to see if we can resolve this issue." ashton replied.
i stared at him with a blank stare mixed with a glare.
"do you want to create a problem?" i spoke firmly.
"absolutely not, but something clearly happened that's bothering you and pissing your mom off, so let's all talk about it and see if we can come to a conclusion." ashton spoke back.
i groaned before walking away angrily. i didn't want to deal with their shit. i was going to get stuck in the middle all over again.
barbra's pov
i felt terrible about last night. not only was i hurting my daughter, but i was making our relationship strained with the boys.
i just didn't want her spilling my secrets. she has to understand that those are my battles and secrets to reveal, not her.
i walked out of my room just to see indigo walking back to hers. maybe we needed to leave here.
i walked downstairs quickly and saw luke and calum sleeping and quickly ran into the kitchen straight into ashton.
"hey barbra, i wanted to let you know that maybe for indigo's sake, could we have a family meeting between luke, her, and you." ashton asked quickly.
no, my biggest fear.
"um, i don't see a reason to have one." i shrugged as i walked to grab some coffee.
"please." ashton stressed. "i think it would be good for indigo."
i thought for a moment. maybe he was right, but what if my daughter starts to hate me.
"fine." i replied blandly as i went upstairs back to my room.
indigo's pov
a couple hours past and i caught up on some school work and played on my phone before luke knocked on my door.
"hello pretty girl, i heard you were applying for some jobs." he spoke as he walked into my room.
"yeah, i figured i could help mom out." i shrugged.
"i see, well, that's very kind of you." he smiled softly.
i smiled back stiffly.
"also, ashton said to come downstairs for family therapy." luke added before practically running out of my room.
i sighed before standing up. i picked up midnight and walked downstairs to see ashton, my mom, and luke sitting there waiting for me.
"where's cal and michael?" i asked.
"out grabbing lunch." ashton smiled softly.
i nodded before sitting down.
"so, who wants to start?" ashton asked as he sat back.
i stared between my two parents before sighing, "i guess i will."
all eyes fell on me suddenly.
"i was angry at luke at first because he left, i saw what he did to my mom, which i won't share because it's not my place too, and i hated him for it. i grew up resenting him until i actually met him. now, i don't think your half as bad as i imagined as a kid. i'm sorry for how rude i was at first." i spoke softly in luke's direction.
"no apologies. i left. i should have kept some contact." luke sighed as he leaned back.
"why did you leave?" i asked.
"well, i left for a l- "oh please, don't bullshit luke, you left because you didn't love me anymore."
