to say dinner was awkward is an understatement.

sierra didn't want to talk to luke because mom was there and the whole table didn't know what to talk about.

"this is awkward." i whispered to ashton as i placed a piece of lettuce into my mouth.

"you're telling me." ashton whispered back as he stared awkwardly in front of him.

"excuse me, i'm going to the restroom." i spoke as i left the room.

everyone moved out of the way so that i could go to the restroom.

i entered and right after i did sierra walked in.

"hey, i just wanted to apologize for coming. i didn't know your mother was going to be here." sierra spoke softly.

"no worries, it's just awkward. plus luke and my mom are divorced. there's like a zero percent chance they will ever get back together." i replied with a soft smile.

"oh! well i wasn't um implying anything." sierra spoke suddenly becoming really embarrassed.

"it's okay! really i don't mind. i think you guys would make a cute couple." i spoke as i walked out of the restroom.

did i really mean that? maybe not, but why would i tell her the opposite?

i walked back to the table and took a seat and was relieved when i saw that the food had arrived.

everyone became more comfortable and started to talk more once the food had arrived and the rest of the night went smoothly.

mom excused herself to go to the restroom right before dessert had arrived. she looked sad.

i must've lost track of time because a couple minutes had passed and mom still wasn't back.

i excused myself to go try and find her, just for the bathroom to be empty and mom missing.

"fuck." i whispered as i went to go search for her.

i sent ashton a quick text before leaving the restaurant.

i began to walk the streets in hopes that she would pop up and be completely okay.

"hey beautiful! what's up?" a drunk man slurred from beside me.

"i'm a minor. leave me alone." i spoke firmly as i picked up my walking pace.

"now now, why would such a beautiful lady be walking alone at night?" he slurred again as twirled a piece of my hair between my fingers.

"get the fuck off me!" i yelled as i pushed him away causing him to stumble and hit the wall.

"you bitch! i just wanted to talk with you." he snarled as he lunged towards me.

i quickly took off my high heels and began to run.

i didn't care where i was going, i just needed to get away from him.

the man was chasing after me as i ran down the empty streets screaming my head off.

i realized i was running in a circle and i quickly saw the restaurant and saw crystal and sierra standing outside.

i guess the boys were still inside paying.

i ran behind them and gripped onto their arms tightly. the man came to a stop in front of us and smirked.

"who the fuck do you think you are running after a teenager!" crystal yelled as she stood in front of me firmly.

"she's beautiful. can you blame me?" the man smiled as he reached for me just for his hand to be slapped away by sierra.

"i suggest you leave before i call 911." she spoke deathly cold.

"you girls are no fun." the man complained as he began to back away.

"who would be fun when you're chasing after a teenager, who happens to be the daughter of a doctor?" sierra laughed.

all of a sudden the boys came walking out and immediately got into a 'who the fuck are you' stance.

"is there a problem here?" luke asked.

"n-none at all. have a nice day ladies." the man spoke as he walked away quickly.

i let out a huge breath of relief after the man left and thanked crystal and sierra.

"he chased me down the street." i whispered.

"what an asshole." calum muttered under his breath.

"speaking of which, why the hell were you even out here alone?" ashton asked.

"my mom's missing."
