The two weeks pass quickly. Chatter between students trying to organise things for the ball is constant. I wake up on the morning of the ball to the sound of Leonora outside my door. "Y/n, honey, get up!" she whisper yells while knocking. I wave my finger and the door opens. She walks in and closes it behind her. I shove a pillow into my face. "Come on. Get up. We have to help set up." she demands. I remove the pillow from my face and glare at her.
"No. I want to sleep." I say, staying in my laid down position. She walks around to my side of the bed and rips the sheets off me. "Leonora!" I yell. She picks me up bridal style, walks into the middle of the room, then places me on my feet. "I'm so glad you decided to get out of bed. We have a busy day ahead of us." she says, faking a smile. I attempt to run back to bed but she grabs my wrist and spins me into her. "Nuh-uh, you're up." she says. I grunt. "Let me go! I want to sleep!" I shout. She laughs at my antics. I wrestle out of her grip and dive on my bed, attemping to cover myself.
She groans with frustration. "I will smother you with a pillow." she jokes. "Go on. I won't have to help that way." I agree. She shakes her head. "No, because then I won't have a date for tonight." she tells me. "Oh yeah, we're going together, aren't we?" I joke. Her expression drops. "You forgot?" she asks. I laugh. "Of course I didn't forget! How could I?" I tell her. She rolls her eyes then crawls on the bed, laying beside me. I rest my head on her shoulder. "Five minutes like this, then I'll get out of bed." I say. She nods. "Fine. Five minutes, that's it." she agrees. I giggle.
The next five minutes pass at a comfortable pace. Leonora climbs off the bed and pulls my up with her. I fold into her dramatically. "Ughhhh." I groan. She wraps her arms around me. I wrap mine around her. "Do we have to?" I ask, head resting on her upper chest. "Yes, Y/n. You were the one who said we'd help." she tells me. I lean back with a low groan. "Get dressed. We're going to be late." she hurrys. I get into a pair of action trousers and pull on a burgundy merino shirt. Leonora, once again, kneels in front of me to do my laces. "I love how you get on your knees for me." I tell her. She smirks. "Always." I raise my eyebrows proudly.
We head to the assembly hall. We pass Hester and Beatrix who are chilling outside Beatrix's dorm. I wink at them as we walk past. Hester gasps, instantly connecting the dots. "What?" Beatrix asks. "They're going together tonight." Hester answers. Leonora and I both laugh at their words. Once we reach the assembly hall, Dovey instantly attacks us with orders.
"Princess, could you go around putting bouquets of mixed flowers in each vase? Lesso, could you help me hang up banners?" I look and Dovey and nod. I look at Leonora and smile. "I'll see you later." I laugh, walking over the the bouquets. Wolves stand guard of the entrances to prevent students from entering the hall. Fairies buzz around, hanging streamers from the ceiling. I spend a decent fifteen minutes looping around the room filling vases. Just as I'm about to finish, Anemone calls me over. "Princess, would you mind checking with Princess Uma about the Ice Statue?" she asks. I nod. "Is she in her office?" I ask. Anemone nods.
I walk off to Princess Uma's office. As I leave, I hear Leonora ask where I am. I turn back. "Leonora!" I call. She looks to me, eyes wide. "I'm going to speak with Princess Uma. I'll be back soon." I tell her. She flicks me a thumbs up. As I turn away, I catch Dovey smiling at us. I smile to myself as I walk off. I reach Princess Uma's office. The door is open. I poke my head around the door frame and knock. "Princess Y/n, come in!" she welcomes. "Professor Anemone asked me to come talk to you about the Ice Statue for the Ball." I tell her. She nods. "Ah yes. I'm just about finished it. Tell Anemone I'll have it there later on tonight." she answers. I nod. "Thank you. I'll see you later." I say, leaving. She waves as I walk away.
I walk back to the hall, smiling at the thought of going to the Ball with Leonora. I get back and Leonora greets me at the entrance. "Hey." she smiles. "Hey." I reply. "What else is there to do?" I ask, rubbing her arm. She looks at my hand and blushes. "There are still streamers to hang around the windows." she tells me. I nod. "Right then, come on." I say. She follows me over to the closest window and we hang some streamers. Anemone catches my attention. "Give me one second, darling. I just need to talk to Anemone quickly." I tell Leonora. She smiles and nods. "Anemone!" I wave her down. She walks over.
