epilogue
"I'm not going to eat it. Just stop, Calum." I ran away from the microwaved corn dog in Calum's hand. 230 calories. 7 grams of sugar. I felt the layers of fat bouncing on my stomach, my thighs.
"Please, Leigh. Baby it's been over a month since you've eaten a full meal. You're five foot five and weigh ninety-two pounds, for God's sake!" Cal pounded on the bathroom door.
"I know that Calum. You should be proud of me. If you really cared about me, you would be congratulating me," I felt salty tears pool at my eyes as I pulled on my hair.
"I care about you Leigh," Calum hit the door. "I can't lose you, baby. I don't want you to stave to death. I won't be able to cope if you die. Please don't leave me," I heard a choked sob from outside the bathroom door.
"Fine," I opened the door and snatched the food from him, hastily devouring it in seven bites. "Happy?" I asked through sloppy chews.
"Oh, you're wonderful," Calum engulfed me in a warm hug, placing a kiss to my temple. I forced a smile and stiffly wrapped my arms around his torso.
"I'm going to use the bathroom now, so if you'd excuse me," I quickly closed and locked the door, reaching up for my sharpied toothbrush. "Sorry Calum," I whispered as I opened the toilet lid and shoved the toothbrush to the back of my mouth. The freshly consumed food dumped down into the toilet, and the sight of it made me throw up a bit more. I coughed before flushing the toilet and wiping some vomit off my mouth with the back of my hand. I cupped my hands, filling them with sink water to wash out my mouth.
"Ashleigh, what the hell?" Cal stormed into the bathroom and picked up the toothbrush. I stumbled backwards and ran into the bathtub, confused on how Calum could have possibly gotten in here. "What are you doing this for? You're already all skin and bones. There's no reason for you to be throwing up the little bit of food that you do eat. Leigh, you mean so much to everyone. The boys, your mom, Leigh you're the world to me,"
"You don't understand, Calum. I just want to be thinner. You and my mom are constantly interrupting this. Every time I get close to my goal weight, someone stops me. i just want to be pretty, Cal," I wiped off my mouth again, holding back a sob.
"I'm in love with you, Ashleigh," Calum lifted my chin and stared into my eyes before gently placing his lips onto mine.
