13| A Bizarre Offer

A/N: Hello dear readers! How does it feel to be back on this book? Do you remember where we left? I hope all those who watched the KYY S4 episodes, enjoyed it so far and the ones like me who're waiting for the whole lot to be out, will not be disappointed either! :D

I have been told the story line is very different from this book, and I am happy to know that! Which means we're back on track & now we will continue from right where we left, okay?

Anyway, something BIG happens in this chapter and it is only a precursor to the massive pump in this story that will come on the Christmas & New Years week! I hope you all enjoy what you read! Oh and the chapters will get LONG from now on, hope you won't complain! :D

"What do you mean, she can't make it?" Manik asked Cabir with a bewildered expression.

"Manik, she has some plans." Cabir tried explaining patiently, once again.

"Cabir, are you forgetting that we aren't just going to a party? It is Jeff's birthday & according to Zubin, this is the best place to stage that Innaya & I are cool & we can work together again! I have to go there with Nandini & she is supposed to encourage me & I am supposed to be so smitten in love that I will agree with her & hug it out with Innaya. The whole media will be there, we will steal the thunder & the projects that Soha lost to Innaya in bad publicity; I will be considered for the lead actor in them opposite Innaya!" Manik explained the PR plan to Cabir, hoping he'd get it, how important it was to have Nandini with him at this party.

"Manik, I understand; but you need to realise, Nandini has only agreed to help you out as a favour. We are not paying her, so we cannot control her!" Cabir replied back in exasperation.

Manik glared at him. "Then pay her for all I care! Isn't she unemployed right now? The money will do her good." he spat. Cabir frowned at his remark.

"Manik, you've told me this, that's okay, but never say this to Nandini. She will take it to heart & chances are she will quit helping you completely! You & I both know we actually have no leverage to hold her back!" Cabir snapped this time.

"So how do we make her come, Cabira? You know how important this is for me! What work does she have by the way?" Manik asked, slowly massaging his temple while thinking.

"Err..umm..her work..actually.." stammered Cabir & that didn't go unnoticed by Manik. He glared at him and hissed, "Spill. Now!"

Cabir gulped before responding. "Nandini has dinner plans with Aryamann Khanna tonight" he replied, not meeting Manik's eyes, expecting the inferno to unfold. Manik stared at him. Seriously? Nandini was refusing to help him in such a critical thing for just a silly, stupid, dinner with Aryamann Khanna?!

"What kind of fuckery is this, Cabir?" he bellowed in rage & Cabir sighed. He didn't know how to explain this to Manik that, the Nandini he knew from the past was different, she used to keep Manik in the centre of her universe, but this new Nandini was a changed woman, she had finally learned to love herself & now getting her to do his bidding, required patience and a change in tone.

"Manik, we cannot force her. However, if you're willing to do something, we can get her to this party." Cabir replied, after thinking it through. He was actually quite sure Manik wouldn't be willing to do this, but it was worth a try, right?

"Like what?" Manik asked, harshly.

"You need to make a call to Jeff Irani & make a request" replied Cabir, gauging his reaction. Manik understood what Cabir meant & after a thorough consideration, even he realised it was his only way. He sighed and replied, "Fine, connect me to her."
