Hello Readers,
I didn't think while writing the death of Abhimanyu's character in this story, that it will be so overwhelming for my readers. I knew it would break hearts but seeing how it's been almost one week and readers are still processing it, I feel I need to take it up & do my bit in helping you process the loss of Abhimanyu Thakkar.
I think moving on from a situation that's unpleasant in life, largely happens when we understand the rationales for its occurrence. Sad thing is, in life we often don't get these reasons, which can heal us quickly.
But hey this is just a story right? I am here to explain the reason, so it feels a little less gloomy knowing there will be no Abhimanyu in the future chapters..
Now, a lot of people commented, asking WHY.
Why indeed was it necessary to kill off Abhimanyu's character?
The reason why he died in the story will unfold with upcoming chapters, but I will tell you as a writer why killing this character was important for the story.
You know readers, if you take examples from great literary works out there & for that matter even movies, there is a common underlying theme. As long as the docile protagonist character (I said docile, meaning soft & gentle not weak) stays protected, they never fully bloom. They know in the back of their mind that they are protected, so they don't push themselves to show their full strength. In other words they can be soft & naive because they can afford to be so.
It is only when you take their last support system away from them & they know even at a subconscious level that there's no one to have their back, that's when they step up & become their own warrior. That's when they fight & that's when they fully become who they're meant to be.
Hence Abhimanyu's death was necessary. He needed to die to bring Nandini's full potential to fruition.
I'm sure you readers don't want Nandini to always be this vulnerable right? Do we want a knight in shining armour to save us or can we women be our own weapon? You guys wanted Nandini to fight for herself & rise right?
Even if I use pop culture reference, for Harry to face Voldemort for the final battle of Hogwarts, each one of his protectors, the stalwarts had to die. He wouldn't have had the face off if even one of his guards be it Dumbledore, Lupin, Snape, Sirius lived.
Did you all watch the Batman trilogy by Christopher Nolan? Remember Bane's pit, where batman was held? (It's in Jodhpur btw, the location!) So every time Bruce Wayne tried climbing with a rope harness, he failed to climb out of Bane's pit. It was only when he let go of the harness, the thing that was giving him safety from smashing to pieces if he fell while climbing, that he actually successfully climbed out! Why? Because this time he knew he'd die if he didn't and he fought with all he had! It's the same concept.
You have to let go of the comfort zone, the safety, the protection to be your highest self, and in my story, that's why as a writer, I had to write off Abhimanyu's character. I loved him too, but he had to go.
I hope with this you've gotten my perspective as a writer & that makes it a little easy for you all to move on from his untimely demise.
Let's brush off the tears, readers, and see Nandini Murthy rise. Are you excited now?
On that note, see you all this Sunday!
Much, much love & a big hug,
Your writer,
A.
