~French dramatist, Jean Racine, wrote, "There are no secrets that time does not reveal."
"Agent Hotchner, sir," Anderson knocks on the door and steps into the unit chief's office, holding an envelope, "this arrived for you."
Aaron Hotchner looks up from the paperwork he was currently working on, furrowing his brows. "Who is it from?"
"I don't know, sir," the younger agent moves to hand Hotch the manilla envelope. "It was given to security downstairs who gave it to me to give to you."
Hotch takes the envelope, briefly scanning it. No return address, no stamp. Only a neatly written "FOR: SSA AARON HOTCHNER" on the front.
"Thank you, Anderson," he dismisses the other agent, who curtly nods his head before exiting the office.
Hotch carefully opens the envelope, tilting it so the contents slowly slide out onto the desk.
On top of the pile of papers is a sticky note that reads: "Watch your back. I am always watching."
Peeling off the post-it, Hotch shuffles through the contents, all of which are photos. Photos of him and the team, both at work, and also at their homes, at the grocery store, at the gas station. Clearly, whoever this unsub is has been watching them in all parts of their lives.
A knot forms in the unit chief's stomach, as he gets to the end of the pile. Not only had the stalker been following the team, but also their families, including Will, Henry, Jessica, and Jack. Quickly gathering the photos, Hotch storms out of his office and towards the conference room.
"Conference room, now," he sternly addresses the team, who scramble to follow, noticing the urgency in their boss's voice.
As they all take their seats, Hotch posts the pictures and the note on the bulletin board before addressing the room. "I just received an envelope with these photos inside and this note attached. There was no signature or return address."
Their eyes all widen, as they scan the pictures of themselves on board, shock and fear settling in.
"Oh my gosh," JJ gasps, her hand covering her mouth. "That's Henry at school."
Though he empathizes with the blonde, Hotch needs her to stay focused on the task at hand. "JJ, call Will and have him and Henry come here as soon as possible. The same goes for the rest of you," he addresses the rest of the group. "If any family is staying with you or is in the DC area, they need to be here where they're safe. After, regroup here and we can start briefing."
Before making a call to Jessica, Aaron stops at Anderson's desk, "I need you to find out who delivered that envelope, even if it's just a description."
"Yes, sir," Anderson drops what he's working on and heads down to security to see what he can find out.
In his office, Hotch pulls out his cell phone and dials his ex-sister-in-law's number. "Jessica, I need you to pick up Jack from school, and both of you need to come down here."
"What? Aaron, I can't just leave work in the middle of the day," she objects.
"There's someone stalking the team and our families. You might be in danger," he curtly explains.
